Joan Aitchison

Joan T. Aitchison, 83, of St. Marys, formerly of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., died Feb. 13, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital.
   She was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Pennsylvania, to John and Elizabeth Joyce Madden. On July 1, 1955, she married Robert W. Aitchison who died Nov. 4, 1999.
   Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Charles) Weaver, Austin, Texas, and Theresa Crawford, St. Marys; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are three brothers, Walt, John and Al Madden, and two sisters, Katherine and Betty Madden.
   She was the retired owner of Aqua Artist, a swimming pool maintenance company in Montrose, Calif. A graduate of Glendale High School in Glendale, Calif., she was a member St. Edwards Catholic Church, Dana Point, Calif., and Casa Colina, an association benefiting handicapped children.
   Vigil services are 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Tony Cutcher officiating. A funeral Mass will be held later at the California church.
   Calling is 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.


Earl Felten

Former St. Marys resident Earl E. Felton, 95, died Feb. 13, 2005, in Sarasota, Fla.
   He was born Aug. 3, 1909, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Emil Otto and Gertrude Elkin Felten. On Aug. 3, 1931, he married Elizabeth Shadrach who died Feb. 19, 1984.
   Surviving are a daughter, Donna (Richard) Fisher, St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Audi Felten, Mills Way, Wyo.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and his companion, Doris Burgess, Florida.
   Deceased are a son, John E.; an infant brother and four sisters.
   He retired from Parker Hannifin in 1971, when he and his wife moved to Sarasota. He was one of the founders of the St. Marys Boat Club.
   The body was cremated and no services are planned.


Virgil Keysor

Virgil "Jack" Keysor, 78, 514 N. Franklin St., St. Marys, died at 11:33 p.m. Feb. 13, 2005, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
   He was born Nov. 24, 1926, to John and Emma Jones Keysor. On Aug. 4, 1945, he married Melva Chilcoat who survives.
   Also surviving are four daughters, Sharon (William) Dicke, Celina, Judy (Randy) Myers, Linda (Lacey) Cramer and Debra (James) Hensley, all of St. Marys; a brother, Irvin of Wapakoneta; two sisters, Mary Jane Roode, New Knoxville, and Dolly McDermitt, Wapakoneta.
   Deceased are a son, Richard; three brothers, Nelson, Richard and Delmar; and four sisters, LaVonne Morris, Doris Fisher, Viola Webb and Velma Lindamuth.
   He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys, where he had worked 40 years as a press operator. He served with the U.S. Army as a motorcycle messenger in Italy during World War II and helped coach and umpire Little League baseball in St. Marys.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


Vera Speicher

Vera Sophia Speicher, 88, formerly of Celina, died at 12:01 p.m. Feb. 13, 2005, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
   She was born Sept. 8, 1916, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Otto and Emma Rodewald Gerke. On July 7, 1942, she married Marcus E. Speicher who died April 17, 1998.
   Surviving are a son, John (Tara) of Geyersville, Calif.; two daughters, Carolyn (William) Clack, Horseheads, N.Y., and Ruth (Jeff) Gardner, Simpsonville, S.C.; a brother, Melvin Gerke, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   A sister, Rosella Seddelmeyer, is deceased.
   She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, and the Mercer County Historical Society, where she formerly served as treasurer. She was a former member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and had helped with United Way collections.
   Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Debra Domeier officiating. Burial will be at Buck Cemetery.
   Calling is 6-8 p.m. today at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, and after noon Wednesday at the church.
   Contributions can be made to the church.


George VanGundy

George E. VanGundy, 64, 4792 Keopple Road, Celina, died at 2:22 p.m. Feb. 13, 2005, at Colonial Nursing Home, Rockford.
   He was born Jan. 30, 1941, in Mercer County, to Kenneth and Margaret Fisher VanGundy. On Sept. 22, 1963, he married Rosa Miller who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Gregory of California and Gary of Mendon; a daughter, Diana Mullen, Celina; a brother, David (Deb) of Mendon; a sister, Jeanne (Mike) Sprague, Rockford; two sisters-in-law, Andrea and Peg; five grandchildren and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ril T. and Vi Miller, Celina.
   Two brothers, James and Ralph, are deceased.
   He retired from New Idea, Coldwater, and was a 1959 graduate of Rockford High School.
   Memorial services will be at the family's convenience.
   Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements.
