Vera Baumgardner

Vera D. Baumgardner, 82, 702 S. Main St., St. Marys, died at 6:50 a.m. Feb. 22, 2005, at St. Marys Living Center.
   She was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Auglaize County, to David and Hilma Schmidt Rohrbach. On Dec. 28, 1941, she married Richard I. Baumgardner who died April 26, 1996.
   Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Nancy) of Monument, Colo., and Timothy (Jane) of Milford; a sister, Gertrude Tinnerman, St. Marys; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are three brothers, Walter, Leory and Virgil Rohrbach, and two sisters, Olga Irene Burkhart and Martha Rohrbach.
   She was the retired owner of Cincinnati Legal Blank Co. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, and a 1940 graduate of Spencerville High School.
   Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is after noon Saturday at the funeral home.


Glenn Bollenbacher

Glenn L. Bollenbacher, 83, of Hamilton, died at 2:40 p.m. Feb. 23, 2005, in the Fort Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit.
   He was born May 29, 1921, in Geneva, Ind., to Lawrence and Margaret McDonald Bollenbacher. On May 15, 1948, he married Irma Lakes, who died in 1998.
   Surviving are a son, Michael, Lawrenceburg, Ind.; a daughter, Glenda (John) Uhlmansiek, Lawrenceburg, Ind.; a sister, Violet Klenz, Celina; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
   Deceased are a brother, Raymond, and two sisters, Evelyn Fenning and Inez May.
   He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy from 1945-1946, and was an employee of Fisher Body for 30 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hamilton.
   Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, Hamilton, the Rev. Paul Marcum officiating. Burial will follow at Venice Cemetery.
   Calling is noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Terry Dorsten

Terry L. Dorsten, 41, 240 N. LeBlond St., Celina, was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m. Feb. 24, 2005, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to an apparent suicide.
   He was born June 11, 1963, in St. Marys, to Ronald and Millie Krugh Dorsten. They survive in Wapakoneta. On Sept. 2, 2002, he married Suzanne Rodriguez who survives.
   Also surviving are two daughters, LaRae and Paige, both at home; two stepsons, Steven Gonzalez and Riley Piper; two stepdaughters, April Nuding and Ashley Gonzalez; two brothers, Ronnie of Palm Coast, Fla., and Dave of St. Marys; a sister, Janel (Jody) Frazier, St. Marys; paternal grandparents Clarence Dorsten and Melba Lowery, of Wapakoneta, and two step-grandchildren.
   He was a 1982 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and was employed at AAP Corporation in St. Marys.
   Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Rosalinda May

Rosalinda May, 83, formerly of 625 E. Spring St., St. Marys, died at 9:22 p.m. Feb. 24, 2005, at Otterbein Retirement Community in St. Marys.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
   Other arrangements are pending at the funeral home.


Leonard Sudhoff

Rev. Leonard Sudhoff, C.PP.S., 93, died at 6:35 p.m. Feb. 24, 2005, in the St. Charles Center infirmary, Carthagena, after a brief illness.
   He was born Sept. 20, 1911, in St. Anthony, to John and Ida Homan Sudhoff.
   Surviving are a sister, Bernice (Herman) Uhlenhake, Celina; and a brother, Walter (Laura), Fort Recovery.
   Deceased are a brother, Werner; brother-in-law, Ralph Klosterman; and two sisters, Mildred and Helen.
   He entered the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1926 and was ordained a priest May 7, 1939. He was an assistant pastor at churches in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Pennsylvania and Ohio. He ministered Blessed Sacrament Church in Cleveland 1951-1965, Mary Help of Christian Church in Fort Recovery from 1965-1974. He was associate pastor of Immaculate Conception Church 1974-1975 and of St. Andrew Church in Orlando, Fla. 1975-1989. He was part-time associate at Resurrection Church of Winter Garden, Fla. from 1989-1991 and served as chaplain of Florida Manor before his retirement in 1993.
   Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Monday at St. Charles Center, the Rev. Ken Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow in the community cemetery.
   Calling is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at St. Charles center with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
   Hogenkamp and Sons Funeral Home, Coldwater, has charge of arrangements.


Nelda Thoene

Nelda J. Thoene, 87, 362 Marsh Drive, St. Marys, died at 6:47 a.m. Feb. 24, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness.
   She was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Gottlieb and Nina Penrod Grosch. On July 12, 1941, she married Wolfgang Carl Thoene, who died April 23, 1990.
   Surviving are a son, Carl (Lesta) of St. Marys; a daughter, Nina (Jeffrey) Smith, Mineral, Va; and two grandchildren.
   Deceased is a grandson.
   She was retired from Pennsylvania Metallic Tubing Company as a secretary. She had sold antiques for several years at the St. Marys Trading Post.
   Private family burial services will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
   A wake will be held 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the home of her son, 361 Crowder Drive, St. Marys.
   Contributions can be made to Celina Visiting Nurses in care of Miller Funeral Home.


Joe Ann Whittaker

Joe Ann Whittaker, 75, of Ansonia, died at 1:24 a.m. Feb. 24, 2005, at Kettering Memorial Hospital, Kettering.
   She was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Covington, to William and Harriet Diesinger Vannoy. She married Chalmer Lewis Whittaker, who is deceased.
   Surviving are three sons, Garry (Karen) Mitchell, Union City, Ind., Larry (Charlotte) Mitchell, Greenville, and Jeff (Vicki) of Hereford, Ariz.; two daughters, Janice (Frank) Smith, Celina, and Karen (David) Price, New Madison; a sister, Sarah Fansler, Greenville; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a brother, Dave Vannoy; two sisters, Clara Marker and Edith Knight; and a daughter-in-law, Angie.
   She was a factory worker for most of her life.
   Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Tony Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Abbottsville Cemetery.
   Calling is 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice.
