Nada L. Hoersten, 65, of Rockford, died at 12:32 p.m. March 23, 2005, at Lima Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient four weeks. She was born May 26, 1939, in Van Wert, to Francis and Elizabeth Lucille Stover Bayles. On Oct. 12, 1957, she married John J. Hoersten who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Stephen (Tammy) of Brownsburg, Ind., and Bryan (Maureen) of Elyria; a daughter, Barbara Ann of Rockford; two brothers, Gary Bayles, Willshire, and Jack (Rosie) Bayles, Bronson, Mich.; three sisters, Betty (Jimmy) Miller and Sandy Anderson, all of Willshire, and Patty (Lester) Weisner, Van Wert; and three grandsons. She retired from Huffy's Manufacturing, Celina, and worked for the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Mercer County. She also was a Rockford Telephone Co. operator. She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society, both of Rockford. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Brenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford. Mercer County native Sister Teresa Joseph Ranly, 86, of Cincinnati, died March 24, 2005, at St. Clare Convent, Cincinnati (Hartwell). She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Mercer County, to Peter and Sophia Speck Ranly. Surviving are four brothers, Paul (Marie) of Minster, Orville (Alma) of Philothea, the Rev. Ernest of Lima, Peru, and Don (Eva Joan) of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Lucille (Bernard) Droesch, Maria Stein, Rita (Ray) Flaute, Cassella, and Ella Mae (Ralph) Liette, Chickasaw; and two sisters-in-law, Eileen Ranly, Cassella, and Rosemary Obringer, Coldwater. Deceased are three brothers, Norbert, the Rev. Victor and Arthur; two sisters, Alvina Klosterman and Hilda Obringer; two brothers-in-law, Florus Obringer and Walter Klosterman; and two sisters-in-law, Ethel and Erma Ranly. She entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Aug. 15, 1939, at St. Clare Convent. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the convent chapel. Calling will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the convent. Mercer County native Beverly Sauer, 68, of Portland, Ore., died March 23, 2005, at her home. She was born May 30, 1936, in Mercer County, to Dick Staugler and Aline Bonvillian. Her father survives in Fort Recovery. Also surviving are three sons, Tom, Tim and Todd; two daughters, Terri Cook and Toni Morse; five sisters, Peg (Dave) Bretz, Pat (Don) Wendel, Lisa (Gary) Wendel and Sandy (Carl) Hastings, all of Fort Recovery, and Cindy (Stan) Rainey, Hilton Head, S.C.; and 11 grandchildren. A son, Ted, and a daughter, Tina, are deceased. She retired in 1993 from the U.S. Postal Service. Private services will be at Sandy Funeral Home in Sandy, Ore. Mary Shambaugh, 98, formerly of 133 Johnson Ave., Celina, died at 8:02 a.m. March 24, 2005, at The Gardens at Celina. She was born Nov. 26, 1906, in St. Marys, to Louis and Mary Gerstner Rohr. On Jan. 8, 1934, she married Joseph B. Shambaugh who died Aug. 9, 1974. Several nieces and nephews survive. A brother, Leo Rohr, is deceased. She formerly worked as a registered nurse at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, and formerly owned Shambaugh's IGA, Celina. A 1925 graduate of St. Marys High School and a 1930 graduate of St. Rita's Hospital School of Nursing, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Sodality, both of Celina, and the Mercer County Elks Club. Funeral Mass is 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery. Calling is 4-7 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Home. Contributions can be made to the Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund.
