Josephine Gutierrez Mullen, 77, of Van Wert, died at 7:30 p.m. April 4, 2005, at her home. She was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Lansing, Mich., to Longino and Conception Castenda Marez. Her first husband, John Gutierrez, is deceased. On May 10, 1997, she married Frederick S. Mullen Jr., who survives. Also surviving are six sons, John (Paula) Gutierrez, Paulding, Gil (Denise), Dan and David (Marsha) Gutierrez, all of Van Wert, Ron (Pat) Gutierrez, Alpharetta, Ga., and Randy (Jeanene) Gutierrez, Rockford; and five daughters, Diann (Jeff) Ebel, Grover Hill, Sue Szuch, Elida, Lou (Steve) Biberstine, Ohio City, Bernadine (Klayton) Hooper, Cloverdale, and Mariea (Dan) Moreland, Van Wert. Other survivors include two brothers, Salvadore Marez, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Genero Marez, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Mary Torres, Grand Rapids; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Theresa; a son-in-law, Dave Szuch; and a sister, Connie Trevino. She retired from Aeroquip in Van Wert after 15 years and previously worked at Van Wert Manufacturing Co. She also did house cleaning and ironing in the Van Wert area and was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, American Legion Auxiliary and the Van Wert County Hospital Twigs, all of Van Wert, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, both of Wapakoneta. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Calling is 4-8 p.m. today and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert. The rosary will be recited there at 8 p.m. Thursday. Ronald Eddy Roe, 63, 440 Touvelle St., Celina, died April 4, 2005, at his home. He was born Feb. 16, 1942, in Union County, Ore., to Eddy and Marva Done Roe. Surviving are a brother, James (Joanne) of Glide, Ore., and three sisters, Dee (Dan) Hawkey, Celina, Carol (Ron) Baker, Summerville, Ore., and Sharon Vera, Gilroy, Calif. He retired as a quality control employee at Huffy Corp. and formerly worked at Big Bear in Celina. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Celina native Owen A. Roettger, 92, of White Lake, Mich., died April 3, 2005, at a hospital in Pontiac, Mich. He was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Celina, to William and Harriet Hines Roettger. Surviving with his wife of 72 years, the former Freda Boise, are a son, Keith O. (Irene); a daughter, Janet D. Squires; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A daughter, Karen K. Corbett; six brothers and three sisters are deceased. He retired from General Motors Research Laboratories after 30 years. He was a member of Celina First Church of God and Crittenton Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of University Presbyterian Church, Rochester Hills, Mich. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Swamp College Cemetery near Celina, the Rev. Richard Van Horn officiating. Calling will be at the cemetery prior to services. Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, Waterford, Mich., had charge of Michigan arrangements while W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, is handling local arrangements. Marie Anna Wilson, 61, of Celina, died at 12:10 a.m. today, April 6, 2005, at her home. She was born June 5, 1943, in Paulding County, to Steven and Elzina Lee Saco. On Jan. 11, 1964, she married Otto Wilson who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Angie (Mike) Grunden, Celina, and Lorie (Bart) Beerbower, Rockford; a sister, Imogene (Henry) Wilson, Defiance County; and five grandchildren. A sister, Donna Dickey, is deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mendon. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, Pastor Peter Calvert officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Bethel Cemetery, Mendon. Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to the church or Celina Area Visiting Nurses. |
