Evelyn Barr

Evelyn Louise Barr, 84, of Bellville, died May 29, 2005, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville.
   She was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Mansfield, to Roy E. and Hilda Smith Butler. Her husband, Raymond E. Barr Sr., died Aug. 9, 1991.
   Surviving are four sons, Raymond Jr. (Sharon) of Minster, Thomas R. (Nancy) and Phillip A. (Kay), all of Bellville, and John A. (Linda) of Jeromesville; a daughter, Luanne (Larry) Dill, Bellville; a sister, Dorothy Shaffer, Mansfield; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
   She graduated as valedictorian from Madison High School in 1938 and attended Mansfield Business College. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, both of Bellville.
   Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Douglas J. Pretorious officiating. Burial will follow at Bellville Cemetery.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. today at Snyder Funeral Home, Bellville.
   Contributions can be made to the church or the Colonial Manor Memory Unit.


Margaret Bentley

Margaret Bentley, 81, of Franklin, died May 28, 2005, at her daughter's home in Centerville.
   She was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Knott County, Ky., to Monroe and Millie Hart Combs. Her husband, Beecher Bentley, is deceased.
   Surviving are a son, Bert of Celina; a daughter, Janet of Centerville; several brothers and sisters; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
   Deceased are a son, Harold; a daughter, Rita; and several brothers and sisters.
   Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home, Franklin.
   Calling is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.


Helen Dunlap

Helen Mary Dunlap, 71, 1103 W. Logan St., Celina, died May 28, 2005, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
   She was born April 14, 1934, in Carthagena, to Gregor and Margaret Braun Huber. In 1978, she married Ronald Dunlap who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, David James Ellis, Tallahassee, Fla., and Timothy Duane (Dorothy) Ellis, Greenville; a daughter, Patricia Ann McCain, Celina; two stepsons, Jeff Dunlap, Mexico, and Bud Dunlap, California; a stepdaughter, Lynn Dunlap, California; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
   Other survivors include four brothers, Norbert, LeRoy (Cathy) and Louis (Donna) Huber, all of Celina, and Ronald Huber, Covington; five sisters, Vera Staugler, Osgood, Roberta (Don) Wagner and Antoinette (Lynn) Burger, all of Celina, Alberta (Roger) Wagner and Carol (Clifford) Longsworth, all of Van Wert; a brother-in-law, Don Lange, Celina; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Huber, Coldwater.
   Deceased are four brothers, Joseph, Victor, Albert and Alfred Huber, and a sister, Betty Lange.
   She retired from Huffy in Celina after 42 years and attended Pilgrim Holiness Church, Celina.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Lee Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.
   Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.


Charles Houts

Charles E. Houts, 75, Fort Barbee Apartments, 100 W. Spring St., St. Marys, was found dead May 28, 2005, at his home. Death was due to natural causes.
   He was born Nov. 19, 1929, in St. Marys, to Henry and Iva Reveal Houts.
   Surviving are a brother, Richard (June) Houts, Wapakoneta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Deceased are two brothers, Vernon and Orville Houts, and three sisters, Clara Neely, Sharon Thompson and Virginia Houts.
   He retired from St. Marys Iron and Steel and attended First Church of the Nazarene, St. Marys.
   Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


Andre Kohlhorst

Andre' "Andy" Kohlhorst, 46, 14965 state Route 66 North, St. Marys, died May 27, 2005, at James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, following an extended illness. See story on page 3.
   He was born Aug. 5, 1958, in Celina, to Frank and Annalee Schaadt Kohl- horst. His mother survives at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford. On Feb. 7, 1987, he married Sandra Moyers Fortman who survives.
   Also surviving are two stepsons, John (Kelly) Fortman and Jeffrey Fortman, all of St. Marys; two stepdaughters, Nikki (Bill) Koeper, St. Marys, and Rebekah (J.R.) Baumer, Minster; and two stepgrandchildren.
   He was an employee of St. Henry Tile Co., a 1976 graduate of Celina High School and a member of Grace Missionary Church, Celina.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Revs. Bruce Head, Mike Spencer and Jim Loughrin officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
   Contributions may be directed to the Community Blood Drive to support bone marrow research.


Lillian Schowe

Lillian E. Schowe, 85, formerly of 206 N. Washington St., New Bremen, died at 8:20 a.m. May 29, 2005, at Otterbein of Cridersville.
   She was born June 15, 1919, in New Bremen, to Henry and Emma Soelmann Schowe.
   Surviving are a sister, Bertha King, also a resident at Otterbein of Cridersville; a nephew and two nieces.
   A sister, Esther Schowe, is deceased.
   She had worked at the former Stamco Corp., New Bremen, for 31 years and then at the Allen County Welfare Department for 11 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild of the church and the refunding group at Auglaize School, all of New Bremen.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
   Calling is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the church memorial fund.


Ronald Snider

Ronald J. Snider, 55, 4225 state Route 118, Coldwater, died at 12:45 a.m. May 28, 2005, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. Death was due to natural causes.
   He was born Dec. 4, 1949, in Celina, to Wayne and Florence Dues Snider who survive in Coldwater.
   Also surviving is a brother, Dan of Coldwater.
   He was employed at C A Industries in Celina and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, both of Coldwater.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.


Virginia Strete

Virginia E. Strete, 88, formerly of 2905 York St., Celina, died at 2:45 p.m. May 30, 2005, at the Gardens at Celina.
   She was born June 13, 1916, in Peoria, Ill., to David and Nellie Williams Myers. In November 1933, she married Kermit B. Strete who died Nov. 6, 1991.
   Surviving are two sons, Craig (Erma) of Stroudsburg, Pa., and Scott (Karen) of Celina; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
   Deceased are a brother, Kenneth Myers, and a sister, Fern Smalley.
   She had worked as a teller at Citizens Commercial Bank, Celina, and was a member of Rockford Order of Eastern Star and Rockford United Methodist Church. She graduated from Rockford High School.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Michael Berne officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
