Hilda Acton Hilda Marguerite Acton, 99, 809 Greenbriar St., Celina, died at 3:50 p.m. June 7, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. She was born April 3, 1906, in Eaton, to Charles Ora and Ida Hartin Acton. Surviving are two nieces, Phyllis Shoemaker and Deb Hanna, both of Celina. A brother, Clyde B., is deceased. She formerly was a teacher in the Dayton Public Schools and was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Alpha Delta Kappa sorority and the Order of Eastern Star, Dayton. Martha Jeanne Couts, 73, of Van Wert, died at 3:30 a.m. June 7, 2005, at her son's home. She was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Van Wert, to Walter F. and Lottie Agler Emans. Surviving are three sons, Bruce of Van Wert, Terry (Diana) of Celina, and Larry of Defiance; a daughter, Linda (Darrell) McGee, Celina; two sisters, Erlene (Martin) Kilgore, Spring Arbor, Mich., and Amy Belle Roach, Coldwater, Mich.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Katerine; a brother-in-law, Floyd Roach; and a grandson. She had worked as a supervisor, operator and clerk at Ohio Telephone Co. She was a member of Ohio City Church of God and the Van Wert Christian Songwriters and Writers Club and a former member of the Van Wert Board of Realtors and Van Wert Civic Theatre. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Matthew Braun officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Celina native Roman J. Pax, 73, 1387 E. State Road 26, Portland, Ind., died June 7, 2005, at Jay County Hospital, Portland. He was born Aug. 22, 1931, in Celina, to Leo and Gertrude Pax. On April 27, 1957, he married Elizabeth Timmerman who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Anthony of Highland Village, Texas, and Dennis of Portland; two daughters, Bonnie (Kurt) Gillen, Lambertville, Mich., and Joyce Babb, Decatur, Ind.; three brothers, the Rev. Joseph of Carthagena, Robert of St. Henry and Ralph of Mason, Mich.; two sisters, Lucille Bub of San Diego, Calif., and Trudy of Sauk Centre, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren. A daughter, Katie Hopkins, is deceased. He retired from Sheller-Globe in Portland and was engaged in farming. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Portland, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a 1949 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Celina. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Marty Sandhage officiating. Burial will follow at Green Park Cemetery. Calling is 4-9 p.m. Friday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland. Talon Michael Tobe, infant son of Mel and Renee Hubbard Tobe of Reynoldsburg, died June 3, 2005, nine hours after his birth at a New Orleans, La., hospital. Surviving with the parents are a sister, Trinity, and the grandparents, Francis and Eileen Tobe, Fort Recovery, and John and Marty Hubbard, Reynoldsburg. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of the Redeemer in Reynoldsburg, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Calling is after 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
