Matthew M. Beyke, 15, 460 Peters Road, Fort Recovery, was pronounced dead at the scene of a farm tractor accident at 9:30 p.m. July 6, 2005, near Salamonia, Ind. He was born Oct. 11, 1989, in Coldwater, to Mark and Ruth Siegrist Beyke who survive. Other survivors include four sisters, Barb (Eric) Barga, Union City, Ind., and Deb, Missy and Nikki, all at home; maternal grandparents, Ed and Mary Siegrist, Fort Recovery; and a nephew. Paternal grandparents, Jacob and Mary Beyke, are deceased. He would have been a sophomore this fall at Fort Recovery High School where he was a member of the FFA and planned to play football this year. He played junior ACME baseball and was a mass server at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. Carl Ray Copeland, 85, 2905 Hillcrest Drive, died at 8:30 p.m. July 6, 2005 at Colonial Nursing Home. He was born May 29, 1920 in Center Township to Purn and Rhoda Newcomb Copeland. On June 26, 1942, he married Anita Bolenbaugh, who survives in Celina. Also surviving are two sons, William (Ruth), Fort Wayne, Ind. and Barry (Lois), Huber Heights; two sisters, Mae Rogers, California and Hazel (Wayne) Fireoved, Mendon; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, Robert; and four sisters, Nellie Markley Miles, Mary Foster, Alberta Schock and Grace Now. He was a member of American Legion Post 508, Eagles Aerie 1292, both of Rockford, and the Celina Moose Lodge. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 33 years, where he worked as a carrier on Rockford's rural route two. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1943. Service is 11 a.m. Monday at Lehman Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, where graveside military honors will be conducted by the American Legion posts of Celina and Rockford and Veterans of Foreign Wars post of Celina. Mary Eileen Hitchen, 92, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 6:37 a.m. July 6, 2005, at St. Marys Living Center. She was born June 16, 1913, in Wapakoneta, to William and Anna Schick Bradford. On July 28, 1956, she married Frederick J. Hitchen who died May 5, 1988. Surviving are a daughter, Anna Marie (Bud) Evans, Mission, Texas; three stepsons, Donald (Marlene) and Kenneth, all of St. Marys, and David of Toledo; a stepdaughter, Susan K. Puthoff, St. Marys; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Clifford and Harold Bradford, are deceased. She was a member of First Church of God, St. Marys, and a graduate of Shawnee High School. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Ben Brigham officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton. Calling is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Leota Moody
