Jack August

Former Chattanooga resident Jack E. August, 86, 301 Shady Lane, Nokomis, Fla., died today, July 22, 2005, at his home.
   A complete obituary will follow later.


Rene Dorsten

Rene Maria Dorsten, 47, 17686 state Route 66 North, St. Marys, died July 21, 2005, at St. Marys Living Center following an extended illness.
   She was born Nov. 15, 1957, in St. Marys, to William and Janice Quellhorst Dorsten who survive.
   Also surviving are two sons, Robert Dorsten and Tony Pellican, both at home; a brother, Mark (Teresa) of St. Marys; and two sisters, Amy (Dennis) Braun, Weeki Wachee, Fla., and Kim (Tom) Dymond, Crystal River, Fla.
   She was a technical writer at U.S. Realty Consultants in Columbus, a 1976 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, a 1978 graduate of Wooster Agriculture Technical College and a 1991 graduate of Ohio State University. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, and attended Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen.
   Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Marys church, the Rev. Anthony Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys. A prayer service will be held there at 7 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Dean Greenwood officiating.
   Contributions can be directed to a fund for her children or Holy Rosary School, St. Marys.


Leroy Overman

Leroy G. Overman, 81, 45 Greenback Road, Fort Loramie, died at 7:15 p.m. July 21, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   He was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Maria Stein, to William and Mary Buening Overman. On June 27, 1953, he married Melba Smitley Bollenbacher who died Feb. 10, 1990.
   Surviving are a son, Michael (Joan) Bollenbacher, Maria Stein; two daughters, Cheryl (Tony) Grider, Lawton, Okla., and Ilene (Leroy) Limbert, Freyburg; a brother, Eugene (Mary Ann) of Minster; three sisters, Irene Lallemand, Dayton, Evelyn Eiting, Minster, and Joann (Walter) Vondenhuevel, New Bremen; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Edgar and Victor.
   He had worked as a drill press operator at Minster Machine Co. for 36 years. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with the Fort Loramie American Legion Post conducting military rites.
   Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.


Mariannis Smith

Mariannis "Mary" Smith, 75, 102 Beach Ave., Celina, died at 11 p.m. July 20, 2005, at her home.
   She was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Celina, to Phillip and Lillie Monroe May. On July 30, 1949, she married Kenneth L. Smith who died May 23, 1992.
   Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Baker, Celina; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a daughter, Racinda Maxwell, and two brothers, James and Jerry May.
   She retired from Mersman Furniture Co. and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries, all of Celina. She was a Celina High School graduate.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.
   Calling is 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Celina Area Visiting Nurses & Hospice.
