Norma Dean Former Celina resident Norma Jones Dean, 84, 24552 Paseo de Valencia, Mission Viejo, Calif., died at 6:50 a.m. July 9, 2005, at B.B. Country Manor, Mission Viejo. She was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Harry and Ethel McNaulty Jones. On May 2, 1942, she married Warren W. Dean who died July 27, 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Roseanne (Mike) Varner, Birmingham, Ala.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Don, is deceased. She taught chemistry for 25 years at Celina High School and was a full-time volunteer with the Appalachia Service Project through the United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, Tenn. She was a graduate of Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn., and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, and Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, Mission Viejo. Memorial service is 11 a.m. Aug. 26 at the Celina church, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens near Celina. Calling is after 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Former Coldwater resident, James C. Gerlach, 71, of Nashville, Tenn., died at 11 p.m. July 26, 2005, at the veterans' hospital in Nashville. He was born July 24, 1934, to William and Philomena Clune Gerlach. On Aug. 7, 1992, he married Rose Sirios, who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Victor (Betty) of Piqua, and Robert (Elsie) of Coldwater; two sisters, Dorothy (Mark) Niekamp, Celina, and Ruth (Paul) Niekamp, New Bremen; four stepchildren; 12 step grandchildren; and 12 step great-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers: Harold, Clarence and an infant brother; and a sister, Pauline Klosterman. He was a member of American Legion Post 88, Nashville, and served four years in the U. S. Air Force. He was retired from Customs Craft, Nashville. Service is 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hibbetts & Hailey Funeral Home, Nashville. Calling is 3-6 p.m. Tuesday. Mary Catherine "Cathy" Huber, 57, 511 W. Wayne St., Celina, died at 11:30 p.m. July 26, 2005, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. Death was due to natural causes. She was born April 6, 1948, in Celina, to James K. and Mary B. Kohnen Hart who survive in Celina. On March 4, 1967, she married LeRoy G. Huber Sr. who survives. Also surviving are two sons, LeRoy G. Jr. of Lima and Carl (Michele) of Celina; four brothers, James R. (Rebecca) Hart, Celina, Daniel (Diane) Hart, Middletown, Kevin (Marsha) Hart, Chillicothe, and Richard (Jistke) Hart, the Netherlands; a sister, Nancy (Marvin) Crowell, New Paris; and two granddaughters. A son, Joseph, is deceased. She had worked 17 years at Mersman's and 10 years at Erb Lumber, both of Celina. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society and the Red Hat Society, all of Celina, and the Ladies Auxiliaries of I.C. and St. Sebastian churches. He was born June 6, 1931, in Lorain, to Carl J. and Mathilda Luetta Fischer Tremper. He is survived by two sons: Thomas (Leisa), Westerville, and James (Debra), Fredericksburg, Va.; five daughters: Susan (Kendall) Krites, Wapakoneta; Carol (Brad) Pospichel, Westerville; Nancy (Richard) Bertges, Powell; Alice, Dayton; and Diane Fischetti, Hilliard; a brother, Thomas, Sun City, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren. A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, he was a retired teacher from St. Henry High School. He had also taught at Fort Recovery schools and worked at Harbor House, Celina. He was a member of Grand Lake Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the American Association of Retired Persons, Mercer County Retired Teachers Association, and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
