Joe Ann Finegan

Joe Ann Finegan, 79, of Rockford died at 7:10 p.m. July 29, 2005.
   Funeral arrangements are pending at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert.


John Finn

John E. Finn, 77, of Spencerville, died at 5:30 p.m. July 28, 2005, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville, where he had been residing for 6 1/2 years.
   He was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Lima to John Joseph and Ruth E. Bechdolt Finn. His father is deceased, and his mother, now Ruth Risser, survives in Meeker. On Dec. 29, 1952, he married Barbara J. Mull, who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Cindy) of Delphos and Donald (Lisa) of Toledo; two daughters, Deborah (David) Kimmet and Victoria Reynolds, all of Delphos; a brother, David M. (Wilma) Risser, Meeker; seven sisters, Joanna Harris, Bluffton, Eleanor (Jere) Winegardner, Cridersville, Louise Swavel, Mt. Vernon, Texas, Florence Collins, Upper Sandusky, Donna (Clyde) Swavel, Morral, Rebecca (Ron) Black, Kenton, and Judith (Lynn) Elsasser, Ridgeway; and 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a step-father, Harry Risser, and two brothers-in-law, Richard Harris and Leroy Swavel.
   He attended Shawnee schools, served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, farmed and worked for the Ex-Cell-O Corp. in Lima. He retired as a truck driver with R&W System, Taylor, Mich. He was a member of Teamsters Union and a life member of the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 of Spencerville.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Tom Shobe officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Spencerville Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home following the services.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to St. Rita's Hospice.


Anna Miller

Anna M. Miller, 85, of Spencerville died at 12:45 a.m. July 29, 2005, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville.
   Calling will be after 2 p.m. Monday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Other funeral arrangements are incomplete.


Virginia Salm

Former Minster resident Virginia Elizabeth Salm, 90, Evansville, Ind., died at 10:20 p.m. July 28, 2005, at the Woodmont Health Campus, Boonville, Ind.
   She was born June 1, 1915, in Newport to Dr. James N. and Agnes Schwartz Strosnider. In 1938 she married Robert Louis Salm, who died Oct. 18, 1981.
   Surviving are three sons, James (Sue) of Newburg, Ind., David (Carol) of Minster, and Mike of Beaufort, S.C.,; and eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are three brothers, James, Norbert and Aubrey, and a sister, Evelyn.
   She graduated from Holy Angels School, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Minster Bowling League and worked at Wagner Manufacturing, Sidney.
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the Rev. Louis Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home, Sidney.
   Contributions can be made to the church.


Kevin Schutz

Kevin Joseph Schutz, 21, of Houschilt Road, Yorkshire, died July 29, 2005, in an early morning fire at his home.
   He was born April 17, 1984, in St. Marys, to Mark and Linda Heitkamp Schutz, who survive.
   Other survivors are three brothers, Ryan of Cincinnati, Jason of Celina and Nathan, at home; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Emma Rita Heitkamp, New Bremen; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Caroline Schutz, Yorkshire.
   He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, and a 2003 graduate of Versailles High School. He was employed at Baumer Construction, Minster.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. John Porter and Pastor Laura Scheffler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
   Calling is 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
