Robert Benson

Robert Albin Benson, 68, 1310 Oakview St., St. Marys, died at 12:50 p.m. Sept. 13, 2005, at his home.
   He was born Aug. 29, 1937, in Detroit, Mich., to Albin and Sophia Brandvold Benson. He was married Sept. 5, 1964, to Sarah Lee Rose, who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons Eric Robert (Ryoeun) and Anthony Lee, both of Columbus; three brothers, James (Kay) of St. Simons Island, Ga., Allen (Melody) of St. Augustine, Fla., and David (Nancy) of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Helen (Michele) Baille, France, and Jean (Joe) Wilford, Philadelphia; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
   He was employed at the Monsanto Research Corp. Mound Laboratory, Miamisburg, from 1963 to 2000, retiring as project manager. He and his wife managed Wee-Haven Children's Center, Dayton, for 27 years and he helped develop an on-line support list and website for prostate cancer patients. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Marys Rotary Club.
   Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, with Harold Lunsford officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Hurricaine Katrina victims or New Community Church, St. Marys.


Rosemary Brandewie

Rosemary B. Brandewie, 77, 5324 Landings Way, Celina, died at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 12, 2005, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
   She was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Minster, to John and Pearl Ellis Kemper. On June 2, 1951, she married Delmar Brandewie who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, William (June) of Versailles and James (Linda) of Fort Loramie; two brothers, Rich (Mary) Kemper and Robert (Judy) Kemper, all of Minster; two sisters, Thelma (Nick) Zegarelli, Utica, N.Y., and Dorothy (Leo) Finnen, Minster; and three grandchildren.
   She retired as head cook at Marion Local High School, Maria Stein, and was a member of St. Nicholas Church and St. Barbara Ladies Sodality, both of Osgood.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.


Alice Burnell.

Alice C. Burnell, 56, 235 N. Franklin St., died at 11:08 a.m. Sept. 13, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
   She was born May 31, 1949, in Marion, to Roger Sr. and Martha Young Harlow. On June 28, 1975, she married Dennis Burnell who survives.
   Also surviving are a son, Nathan, and two daughters, Emily and Molly; all of New Bremen; one brother, Roger Jr. (Jan) Harlow, Chandler, Ariz.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Marian Burnell, Edison; and two sisters-in-law, Patty (Steve) Stansbery, Edison, and LuAnn (Steve) Bloomfield, Mount Gilead.
   A brother-in-law, Larry Burnell, is deceased.
   She formerly worked as a teacher at Cardington Local Schools and New Bremen Elementary School. She was a member of Faith Alliance Church and the historica ssociation, all of New Bremen, a member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association and a former board member of the New Bremen Friends of Library.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, Pastors Dean Greenwood and Stephen Wills officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m.Thursday and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen.
   Contributions can be made to the New Bremen Public Library or the Community Tree Fund.


Sharon Stamm

Sharon J. Stamm, 56, a resident of Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, formerly of New Bremen, died at 6:45 a.m. Sept. 13, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to natural causes.
   She was born May 10, 1949, in Celina, to Louis and Edna Schroeder Tontrup. Her mother survives in St. Marys.
   Also surviving are two brothers, Steven and Stan, both of St. Marys.
   A graduate of Miami-Jacobs Business College, Dayton, she formerly worked at WING radio station, Dayton, and Crown Equipment Corp., New Bremen. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star, both of Sidney.
   Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
   Calling is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the church or the Valley Nursing Home Activity Fund.
