Herbert Braun

Former Coldwater resident Herbert Braun, 83, of Metter, Ga., died Nov. 24, 2005, in Statesboro, Ga.
   He was born March 7, 1922, in Coldwater, to Ben and Ida Mae Fiely Braun. He married Mary Helen Colby, who died June 5, 2002.
   Survivors are a daughter, Deborah of Metter, Ga.; a brother, Rolland of Las Vegas; and a sister, Eileen Yaney, St. Marys.
   He retired after 32 years at Wright Patterson Air Base. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving with the Flying Tigers during World War II. He was a member of the Flying Tigers Association.
   Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.


Ardith Howell

Ardith R. Howell, 64, of Rockford, died at 6:45 a.m. Nov. 25, 2005, at Van Crest Health Care Center.
   She was born Oct. 18, 1941, in Van Wert County, to Harold Yoh and Marvel Basil Yoh Agler. On Sept 28, 1962, she married Larry Howell and he survives.
   Other survivors are a son, Jeffery of Rockford; a daughter, Kimberly (Paul) Rapking of Cincinnati; three brothers, Jerry (Sharon) Agler of Lewisburg, Tennessee; Dallas (Leigh Ann) Agler of Van Wert; and Phillip Agler of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Ann (Richard) Combs of Orlando Florida and Rita (Lesslie) Stewart of Springfield.
   She graduated from Wren High School and Lima Memorial Nursing School as a registerd nurse. She worked at Van Wert County Hospital, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Rockford Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women's Association, a Sunday school teacher and an Elder of the Church.
   Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Karen Long officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
   Calling is Saturday from 4 p.m.-8 p.m.and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. untill time of services at the funeral home.
   Contributions may be directed to the Rockford Presbyterian Church.


Lois Pierce

Lois Helen Pierce, 76, 626 N. Spruce St., St. Marys, died at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 24, 2005, at the Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
   She was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Minster, to Henry and Frances Weiskittel Kohnen. On Feb. 22, 1949, she married Edgar Stanley Pierce, who survives.
   Other survivors are four daugters, Donna (Paul) Stork of Warsaw, Ind.; Bonnie Berry of St. Marys; Debra Henning of St. Marys; and Linda (Joe) Dressman of St. Marys; a son, Thomas (Janet) of St. Marys; a brother, Dennis (Wanda) Kohnen of Wapakoneta; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Deceased are two brothers, George Kohnen and Henry Kohnen; and two sisters, Marilyn Eshelman and Karen Shawler; and a granddaughter.
   She was a homemaker and member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its altar-rosary sodality.
   Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m.Monday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miler Funeral Home, St. Marys.
