Sunye Beyke

Sunye "Katie" Beyke, 69, 1316 Michael Ave., Celina, died at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 11, 2006, at the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
   She was born Sept. 30, 1936, in South Korea. On Feb. 16, 1965, she married Bernard Beyke, who died Oct. 17, 1995.
   Survivors are two daughters, Carol (Tim) Fink, Celina, and Kim, Chicago, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Cletus (Wilma), Celina, and Henry (Patricia), Franklin, Tenn.; and a grandchild.
   She was a retired cook of Mary Help of Christian Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
   Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday at the church in Celina, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
   Contributions can be made to the church.


Varon Campbell

Former Celina resident, Varon Campbell, 76, of Whitesburg, Ky., died on February 8, 2006, at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
   He was born June 14, 1929, in Ulvah, Ky., to John H. and Mary Smith Campbell.
   Survivors are a son, John (Faye), Whiteburg; two daughters, Martha (Mike) Wenning, Englewood, and Susan (Tony) Ware, Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Edna Halcomb, Lexington, Ky., and Muriel (Bill) Barger, Ulvah, Ky.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
   Deceased are four brothers and four sisters.
   He taught Educational Psychology at the Lake Campus of Wright State University from 1970 - 1975. He received his doctorate degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind. He retired from Laporte City Schools, Ind.
   Services were Feb. 11, 2006, in Whitesburg. The burial was at Campbell Cemetery, Ulvah.


Elma Ireton

Former Van Wert resident, Elma D. Ireton, 87, of Celina, died at 5:50 p.m. at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
   She was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Mercer County, to LeRoy and Ermal Billman Piper. On March 29, 1937, she married James L. Ireton, who died Oct. 22, 1988.
   Survivors are a son, J. Michael (Dianna), Celina; two daughters, Portia (William) McConnell, Springfield, and Marcia (John) Cramer, Van Wert; a sister, Ronda (Lyle) Krogman, Celina; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a daughter, Barbara Kay; a sister, Doleta Ann; and a grandson.
   She was a homemaker and a 1936 graduate of Celina High School. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society, Celina, and Van Wert Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
   Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Of The Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert. Burial is at Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, followed by a Parish Rosary at 8 p.m.

Nicholas Knapke

Nicholas Eugene Knapke, 49, 1101 Grand Ave., Celina, died at 11:01 a.m. Feb. 10, 2006, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Cause of death is pending autopsy.
   He was born Jan. 12, 1957, in Celina, to Leo and Rita Reineke Knapke. His father survives in Celina. On Nov. 4, 1978, he married Debra S. Elder, who survives in Celina.
   Also surviving are two daughters, Katie, Vandalia, and Tracie, Celina; and two brothers, Tim (Elaine) and Tom (Jill), all of Celina.
   He was a 1975 graduate of Celina High School and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Loyal Order of Moose Family Center 1473, both of Celina.
   He worked 28 years for McKirnan Brothers Vending, Celina.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Brenberger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzenzdel Funeral Home, Celina.
   Contributions can be made to Mercer County Cancer Association.


Jean Saddler

Former Celina resident, Jean A. Hall Saddler, 84, died at 8:05 p.m. Feb. 10, 2006, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
   She was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Harrod, to Clifford and Florence McCarty Hall. On April 4, 1953, she married John Saddler, who survives at the Laurels of Shane Hill.
   Also surviving are a son, Gary (Betsy), Bowling Green; a daughter, Sherry (Steve) Chandler, Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Joe Hall, Lima, and Kenny Hall, Harrod; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Jack and Bill Hall; and a sister, Eloise Hanson.
   She worked for Westinghouse and the GTE Phone Company, Lima. She owned and operated J & J Enterprise, with her husband.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.


Evin Schmitt

Evin J. Schmitt, 77, 173 Fox Road, Fort Recovery, died at 4:45 p.m. Feb. 11, 2006, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. Cause of death was an apparent heart attack.
   He was born May 20, 1928, in St. Anthony, to Edward and Dora Homan Schmitt.
   Survivors are a brother, Ralph, Dundee, Ill.; and a sister, Wilma (Harold) Lefeld, Coldwater.
   Deceased are two sisters, Lucille and Sister Norma; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann.
   He was a retired farmer and graduate of Coldwater High School. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Charles Mullen officiating. Burial is at St. Anthony Cemetery.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Prayer service is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


Robert Hall

Robert C. Hall, 71, 6953 state Route 219, Celina, died Feb. 10, 2006, at his residence.
   He was born March 27, 1934, in Ohio.
   Survivors are a brother, Ron Sunderhaus, Hamilton; Michele Jones, Middletown; and six grandchildren.
   He was a U.S. Army veteran.
   Services to be held at the convenience of the family.
