Rev. Israel de la Fuente Soto The Rev. Israel de la Fuente Soto, C.PP.S, 63, died April 18, 2006, in a hospital near Valdivia, Chile. Death was due to a heart attack
He was born July 5, 1942, in San Gregorio, Chile.
He was incorporated into the Society of Precious Blood in 1967, at Carthagena. He was ordained Dec. 30, 1970, serving at parishes in Purranque, Santiago and Valdivia. From 1988 to 1994, he was named formator of candidates to religious life and spent time at San Gaspar Seminary, Guatemala City. He returned to parish ministry and was the parochial vicar of Precious Blood Church, Valdivia. He was vice-director of the Chilean Vicariate and a member of the vicariates council.
Memorial Mass is 4 p.m. May 17 at St. Charles Center, Carthagena, the Revs. Barry Fischer and Tom Hemm officiating. Burial will take place in Chile.
Barbara Knapke
Barbara A. Knapke, 47, 10976 Conover Road, Versailles, died at 8:15 a.m. April 21, 2006 in Shelby County, as the result of an automobile accident in Shelby County.
She was born Oct. 18, 1958, in Celina. Her mother, Mary (Willis) Wolfe, her father, Harold, and her stepmother, Sue Wolfe, all survive in Celina. On April 27, 1984, she married Andy Knapke of Versailles, who also survives.
Other survivors are a son, Ryan Andrew; a daughter, Joelle Cristine, both of Versailles; three brothers, Jim (Tammy) Wolfe, Joe (Lina) Wolfe and Eric Wolfe, all of Celina; two sisters, Deb (Dave) Gehle, Mississippi, and Robin (Phil) Schmiesing, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Don (Cheryl) Knapke, Virginia, John Knapke, Yorkshire, and Nick (Teresa) Knapke, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Ruth (George) Grisez and Jeanette (Bob) Marshall, both of Versailles; and a mother-in-law, Adeline Knapke, Versailles,
She was the bakery manager at Krogers in Sidney and a member of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, and the Modern Mothers of Versailes.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m., April 25 at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, the Rev. David Vincent. Burial is in the St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
Johnny Squires
Johnny J. Squires, 59, 124 Leona St., Celina, died 12:30 a.m. April 21, 2006, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.
He was born Aug. 21, 2006 to Staley D. and Della Beatrice (Banks) Squires, in Grantsboro, N.C. On July 12, 1974, he married Ruth Anita Guenther, in Elizabeth City, N.C., who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David (Alane) Pace, Hartford City, Ind., and Bernard Pace, Princeton, IL.; a brother, Wesley, Beaufort, N.C.; five sisters, Estelle Beall and Sharon Frye, both of Newton, N.C., and Roselle Sumrell, Mildred Mills, and Peggie Wingler, all of New Bern, N.C.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was a truck driver for the U.S. Postal System and a Marine, during the Vietnam era, as well as a member of the U.S. Reserve. He also attended the First Baptist Church, Celina.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., April 23, at the First Baptist Church, Celina, the Rev. Ronald Brady officiating. Burial will be at at a later date in Grantsboro Community Cemetery, N.C.
