Virginia Berry

Virginia R. Berry, 77, of Rockford, died at 8:52 p.m. May 5, 2006, at Colonial Nursing Center, Rockford, where she had been a patient the past three weeks.
   She was born June 24, 1928, in Celina, to Carl L. and Martha Hansel Warthman. On June 30, 1946, she married Ned Berry, who died June 14, 1990.
   Survivors are a daughter, Sue (Kent) Eichhorn, Decatur, Ind.; a son-in-law, Craig Thomas, Mendon; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a daughter, Patricia Thomas; a brother, Henry Warthman; and three grandchildren.
   She was an employee at a Rockford bank for many years and a member of New Horizons Church, Rockford.
   Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Loar officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Leona Droesch

Leona C. Droesch, 91, died at 4:45 p.m. May 5, 2006, at The Gardens at St. Henry, where she was a resident.
   She was born April 23, 1915, in Coldwater, to Henry and Frances Severt Rosenbeck. On Oct. 22, 1935, she married Joseph Droesch, who died Feb. 26, 1989.
   Survivors are four sons, Gene, Coldwater, and Cyril (Mary Ann), Jerry (Kathy) and Robert (Shirley), all of St. Henry; three daughters, Rita (Ernest) Staugler, Coldwater, Margie Meiring, Burkettsville, and Janice (Nicholas) Hess, Coldwater; two brothers, Sylvester (Hilda) Rosenbeck, Fort Recovery, and Wilfred (Mary) Rosenbeck, Coldwater; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Urban and Edward Rosenbeck; four sisters, Louise Timmerman, Dorothy, Mary Wolters and Rita Nerderman; a daughter-in-law, Janet; and two grandchildren.
   She was a homemaker and member of St. Henry Catholic Church and its altar rosary sodality. She also was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. today and 9-10:10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.


Donald Mescher

Former Minster resident Donald L. Mescher, 53, of Union Christel Manor, Union City, died of a sudden illness at 9:15 p.m. May 5, 2006, in the emergency room at Wayne Hospital, Greenville.
   He was born July 14, 1952, in Coldwater, to Paul and Alfrida Hartings Mescher. His mother survives in Minster.
   Also surviving are three brothers, Dale (Lisa), Minster, Ronald, Celina, and Mark (Rose), Englewood; and two sisters, Sara, Minster, and Joyce Weekley, Cincinnati.
   Deceased is a brother, Douglas.
   He worked at Auglaize Industries and Wayne Industries, and was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.
   Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
   Contributions can be made to Christel Manor Christmas Fund.


Mary Slone

Mary Slone 79, of St. Marys, died May 7, 2006, at St. Marys Living Center.
   Funeral arrangements are pending at Miller Funeral Homes, St. Marys.
