Betty Harter

Betty J. Harter, 80, of Celina, died early this morning May 31, 2006, at the Gardens, Celina.
   Arrangements are pending at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.


Harold Pierstorff

Former Rockford resident Harold Charles Pierstorff, 82, of Frostproof, Fla., died May 30, 2006, at Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Florida. He was a patient for two and a half weeks.
   He was born on Dec. 2, 1923, in Celina, to Charles S. and Fredricka Frahm Pierstorff. On January 1, 1944, he married Joy Henderson, who survives.
   Surviving are one daughter, Virginia (James) Westerfield, Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
   Deceased is a son, Gary.
   He was a retired farmer and a square dance caller for 44 years. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Hopewell Church, Celina.
   Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Deb Domeier officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford.
   Contributions can be made to Life Bridge Church Children Ministry, Fort Wayne, Ind.


Stewart Prakel

H. Stewart Prakel, 79, 236 East Ward St., Versailles, died at 8:36 p.m. May 29, 2006, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
   He was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Darke County, to Homer F. and Mary E. Stewart Prakel. On June 2, 1956, he married Margery Brubaker, who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Andrew (Nancy), Dublin, and Michael (Christine), Versailles; a daughter, Libby (Steve Connell), Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Phyllis Tate, Tucson, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.
   He was owner of Worch Lumber Company, Versailles, from 1965 to retirement in 1995, and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He received his masters degree in history from The Ohio State University. He served 12 years on the Versailles school board and also served on the board of trustees of Wayne Hospital. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Versailles, where he was in the choir and church counsel, was a member of Versailles Rotary Club, Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 290, Versailles, Worch Library Board, and the Garst Museum Board. He was 1996 Versailles Citizen of the year.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial is at Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles.
   Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.

Maurice Rammel

Maurice "Moe" Rammel, 78, 314 Augustus St., St. Marys, died at 6:50 p.m. May 29, 2006, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
   He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in St. Henry, to Charles and Josephine Garman Rammel. On May 20, 1950, he married Joan Niekamp, who survives at home.
   Also surviving are three sons, Steven (Sandi), John (Kaye), and Tom (Pam), all of St. Marys; four daughters, Karen (Terry) Makley, Troy, and Mary (Scott) Kogge, Theresa (Doug) Riesen and Lora (Bill) Krugh, all of St. Marys; a brother, Kenneth, St. Henry; three sisters, Ruth Hartke, Dayton, Charlyn Stammen and Kathleen Buscher, Coldwater; 32 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased is sister, Dorothy.
   He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, St. Marys. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he had served in the military police. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 1592, both of St. Marys.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Anthony Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Kenneth Wolaver

Kenneth C. Wolaver, 91, formally of Oran, died May 29, 2006, at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney.
   He was born June 29, 1914, in Shelby County to Forest and Florence E. Frevert Wolaver. On Sept. 29, 1936, he married Helen M. Hershey who died Nov. 6, 2000.
   Surviving are two sons, Lowell, Sidney, and Kenneth Jr., Houston; a daughter, Arlene (Vernon) Hartings, Maria Stein; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
   Deceased is a brother, Harold.
   He formerly owned and operated Wolaver's Heating and Plumbing Company, Oran. He was a member of the Oran Christian Church and the Newport Sportsman Club.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney, the Rev. Dale Ritts officiating. Burial is at Houston Cemetery.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m Thursday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Wilson Hospice.
