Leander H. "Shorty" Muhlenkamp, 91, of Fort Recovery, died at 11:22 p.m. June 11, 2006, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater. He was born Aug. 17, 1914, in St. Anthony, to Anthony and Elizabeth Nieport Muhlenkamp. On Sept. 22, 1936, he married Hilda Sutter, who died Feb. 1, 2006. Survivors are five sons, Virgil (Patricia) and LeRoy (Sue), all of Coldwater, Lavern (Diana), of Clayton, and Larry (Janice) and Terry (Bonnie), all of Fort Recovery; three daughters, Gladys (Ernest) Kuess, Coldwater, Doris (Bill) Simons, Warminster, Pa., and Rita (Donald) Kramer, New Bremen; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Muhlenkamp, Coldwater; 34 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and a step-grandchild. Deceased are a son, Ed; two brothers, Raymond and Ferd; three sisters, Louisa Werling, Hilda Heitkamp and Leona Niefeld; and a great-grandchild. He was a retired farmer, a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its choir. He was also a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus Council 3324, Fort Recovery. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Thursday at Brockman and Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Knights of Columbus prayer service is 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mary Catherine "Kate" Rickard, 78, died at 11:50 a.m. June 11, 2006, at the home of her daughter in Mendon. She was born July 1, 1927, in Celina, to Charles Henry and Zelma Edna Shupp Zizelman. On Feb. 12, 1947, she married James Junior Rickard, who died Nov. 6, 2005. Survivors are a son, Doug (Sandy), Celina; four daughters, Roberta (Gordon) Brown, Rockford, Mary Lou (Tom) Massengil, Coldwater, and Brenda (Tex) Keifer and Cathy (Carl) Frank, all of Mendon; a brother, Charles (Butch) Zizelman, Rockford; five sisters, Margaret Louise Spindler, Hoagland, Ind., Juanita Matthew, Neptune, Joan Smith, Tomahawk, Wisc., Betty (John) Sites and Patty Wilson, all of Celina; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Deceased is a son, Keith. She was a homemaker and member of the Friends Chapel Church, Rockford. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Karen Long officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
