Ivolyn M. Bergman, 83, of Russia, died at 12:48 a.m. July 2, 2006, at Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born June 9, 1923, in Newport, to William J. and Emma C. Broerman Bergman. Survivors are two brothers, Cyril (Ann), Newport, and William (Rita), Russia; two sisters, Rita E., Piqua, and Madonna (Jim) Rak, New Albany; and two sisters-in-law, Loretta, Minster, and Fern, Sidney. Deceased are two brothers, Jerome and Charles; and a sister, Mary Tribble. She was a homemaker and 1941 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport and was active in its Rosary Altar Sodality and the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary Post 296. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Former Grand Lake resident John "Jack" Bickel, 81, of Newark, died at 11 a.m. July 6, 2006, at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. He was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Newark, to George and Roseanne Dennison Bickel. On July 17, 1948, he married Charlotte Gilbert, who died October 10, 1993. Survivors are two sons, Dennis (Maryellen), Roswell, Ga., and Drew (Susan), Fairfield, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Margaret (Killeen), Newark; and seven grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Andy, Jim and Bill; two sisters, Grace Bickel and Bernice O'Toole; and the man who raised him after the death of his parents, George Dennison. He was a football coach at St. Marys Memorial High School and Piqua High School, and was the founding football coach at Newark Catholic High School. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum in both Newark and Portsmouth, R.I. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 82nd Airborne in the Japanese theater. He was a 1944 graduate of Newark High School and Miami University. He was a member of the Newark Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Lions Club, and was recently voted as the St. Francis representative to the Newark Catholic School Board. St. Marys native Donald W. Glass, 70, of Fort Thomas, Ky., died at 1:10 a.m. July 1, 2006, at the Hospice of Cincinnati East, Cincinnati. He was born Dec. 31, 1935, in St. Marys, to Walter and Hilda Dohse Glass. Survivors are a brother, John (Verna), Celina; and a sister-in-law, Vivian, St. Marys. Deceased is a brother, Alvin. He was a retired social studies teacher serving 27 years at Greenhills Schools and three years at St. Marys Memorial Schools. He was a social work supervisor for the Area Development District of Northern Kentucky, a state board member for the Ohio Education Association and a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Stella L. Hess, 85, of Dayton, died June 30, 2006, at Hospice of Cincinnati. She was born Dec. 26, 1920, in Avon, to William and Catherine Hart Plas. Her husband of 62 years, William, is deceased. (Judy), Petaluma, Calif., and Kevin (Carol), Coldwater; four daughters, Sharon (Earl) Elston, Lexington, Ky., Nancy (Tom) Niehaus, Cincinnati, Arlene (David) Forsthoefel, Cincinnati, and Margie Hess, Kettering; a brother, Ralph Plas, Grand Island, Neb.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Paul William Meyer, 78, 1921 Knapke Court, Celina, died at 3 a.m. July 1, 2006, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Liberty Township, to Sebastian and Philomena Stein Meyer. On Nov. 23, 1957, he married Helen J. Shanebarger, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Jerry Andrew, of Englewood. Deceased are two brothers, Thomas and Bernard. He was a retired plant manager at the former New Idea plant in Coldwater. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1800, American Legion Post 210 and Veterans of Foreign War Post 5713, all of Celina. On Nov. 14, 1931, he married Edith Snyder, who died July 21, 2004. Survivors are a son, Bill (Carroll) Pence, St. Marys; two daughters, Imogene (Kermit) Miller, Wapakoneta, and Kathleen Gunston, Wyvale, Canada; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Sylvester, Boyd and Cloyd; a sister, Mabel Russell; and a brother-in-law, Edward Russell. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. Former Rockford resident Gwen Weisenborn, 83, of Bradenton, Fla., died May 25, 2006. She was born Jan. 26, 1923, in Toledo, to Charles and Inez Smith Henline. On Nov. 1, 1946, she married William Vernon Weisenborn who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Carolyn (Jeff) Hemmelgarn, Bradenton; and two grandchildren. Deceased is a brother, Elmer Rae Henline. She was a retired teacher after 32 years of service at Rockford, Mendon and Lima schools. She was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church, Rockford, and Manatee United Methodist Church, Bradenton. She was a graduate of Woodward High School in Toledo and Bowling Green State University. She was a member of Beta Phi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International. Ronald A. Wolf, 65, 152 N. Walnut St., St. Henry, died at 7:50 p.m. July 2, 2006, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater. Death was due to natural causes. He was born Feb. 1, 1941, in Lima, to August and Carrie Luedeke Wolf. On July 31, 1965, he married Mary Ann Nieport, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John (Karen) Garfield of Kansas, and Jeff (Ellie), Minster; a daughter, Janice (Harry) Harmon, Taylor, Mich.; three sisters, Kathy (Sam) Ruck, Wapakoneta, Sister Nancy, Celina, and Cheryl (Steve) McCord, Burlington, N.C.; and five grandchildren. He retired from Minster Machine Co. and was a member of its 25-year club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2640, St. Henry, and a past Grand Knight, and a Cub Scout leader and 4-H advisor. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev.
