Marie Anthony Former New Bremen resident Marie Huerkamp Anthony, 86, died at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25, 2006, at the home of her daughter in Crescent Springs, Ky. She was born March 4, 1920, in St. Anthony, to Bernard and Anna Reinhard Huerkamp. On Dec. 28, 1946, she married David Anthony, who died March 3, 2003. Survivors are three sons, Bill (Connie), Nashville, Tenn., Philip (Betty), Milpitas, Calif., and Bob (Mary), Berea; three daughters, Mary Louise (Jim) Saunders, Georgetown, Mass., Helen Hancock, Crescent Springs, Ky., and Beth (Dave) Alvey, Leesburg, Va.; sister, Kathryn Simpson, Joliet, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Deceased are an infant daughter Margaret, a brother, Frank Huerkamp; and two sisters, Marcella Anthony and Donna Dine. She was a 1938 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Celina, and in 1942 from the St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominion), Columbus, where she earned a degree in home economics. Following graduation she worked as a dietician for Mills Cafeterias in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Detroit. She served two terms as a board member on the New Bremen School board and also two terms on the Auglaize County School Board. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen, where she was a religion teacher, a church council member, served on the For the Harvest committee and on the St. Ann Alter Rosary Sodality. She was a charter member of the Child Guidance League, a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, P.T.A. Band Boosters and the Friends of the Library, all in New Bremen. She volunteered at Agape, St. Marys and was a Hospice volunteer. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Following her request, her body will be cremated and the cremains will be interred at the St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9:30-10:10 a.m. Tuesday at the church at which time the Rosary will be prayed. Former St. Marys resident Eugene L. "Skip" Baughman, 76, 6139 Glen Village Drive, Dublin, died at 2:50 a.m. Aug. 25, 2006 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, following a stroke. He was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Cleveland, to Charles and Marie Stell Baughman. He married Mary Campbell on Aug. 16, 1952 and she died on Nov. 3, 2004. Surviving are three daughters: Deborah (David) Stroh, Upper Arlington; Sandy (David) Hausfeld, Sylvania; Angela Manarolla, Jackson, Mich.; three sisters: Nona (Art) Jones, Painesville; Charlene (John) Thur, Richmond Heights; Edna Blackie, Madison; a sister-in-law, Lou Baughman, Painesville; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles; two brothers, Bob Fedell and Charles Baughman; and a sister, Marian Alvera. A 1948 graduate of Willoughby High School and a graduate of Ohio Northern Universit, he served with the U. S. Army. He was a teacher and coach, having first taught at Hardin Northern Schools and then at Memorial High School, St. Marys. He coached high school football at St. Marys for 36 years. A former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he was a member of Saint Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, Dublin. He was a member of the ONU Alumni Association, the Ohio Northern University Hall of Fame, the Ohio Football Coaches Hall of Fame and the Ohio Football Coaches Association. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Revs. Anthony Cutcher and Joshua Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Amanda Jeanne Briscoe, 29, 214 N. Front St., St. Marys died at 9:55 a.m. Aug. 25, 2006, at her residence following a brief illness. She was born March 29, 1978, in Lima, to Desmond II and Christine Stewart Miller. Her mother Christine Miller Young survives in St. Marys. Also surviving are a step-son, Jaiden Srisongkham, St. Marys, a brother, Raymond, Wapakoneta; and her companion, Amy Latimer, St. Marys. Deceased is a brother, Jason. William Carpenter, 82, 5250 U.S. 33, Rockford, died at 5:35 a.m. Aug. 24, 2006, at Van Wert County Hospital. He was born March 14, 1924, in Nelsonville, to Luther and Cecelia Hoover Carpenter. On Nov. 15, 1969, he married Evelyn Pond, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, William, Columbus, and Jeffrey, Reynoldsburg; three daughters, Deborah Head, Athens, Ala., Tamara (Jason) Vance and Melisa Carpenter, all of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Deceased are a stepson, Ricky; a stepdaughter, Linda; and a brother, George. He retired from Clark Grave Vault Company, Columbus and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 210 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, both of Celina. Albert L. Cross, 91, 155 Notheana Drive, St. Marys, died at 2:06 p.m. Aug. 23, 2006, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born June 26, 1915, in Pitsburg, to Granvilled and Viola Malcolm Cross. On Sept. 6, 1938, he married Betty Knick, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Larry (Ruth), Celina; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Deceased are nine brothers and four sisters. He retired after 30 years at General Motors Corporation, Dayton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and fought in the Invasion of Normandy. He was a graduate of Monroe High School, Pitsburg, and a member of American Legion Post 323 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, both of St. Marys. Flora Duncan French, 92, of Richland, Ga., died Aug. 22, 2006, at Palmyra Nursing Home, Albany, Ga. She had been ill the past six years. She was born Jan. 26, 1914, in Americus, Ga., to George and Flora Hamil Duncan. She married James Marion French Sr., who is deceased. Survivors are a son, Jimmy (Janice), Richland; a daughter, Marianne (Kenneth) Boggs, Celina; a brother-in-law, Arthur G., Alpharetta, Ga.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Deceased is a sister, Martha Duncan Sanders. She was retired from the Richland Banking Company. She was an honor graduate of Americus High School and attended what is now Georgia Southwestern University. She was a member of the Richland First Baptist Church and the Golden Chords Choir. Henry F. "Hank" Fullenkamp, 79, 1992 Kelch Rd., Russia, died at 3 a.m. Aug. 25, 2006, following an extended illness. He was born April 29, 1927 in Maria Stein to Bernard and Rosa Streacker Fullenkamp. On June 18, 1952, he married Mary Margaret Meyer, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Patrick (Linda), Bellbrook; three daughters, Deborah (Robert) Wehner and Rose (Gregory) Pleiman, all of Russia, Brenda (Joseph) Demeter, Springfield; a brother, Othmar (Mary) Fullenkamp, Maria Stein; a sister, Martha (Robert) Lee, Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Edna Fullenkamp, Botkins and Martha Fullenkamp, Cincinnati; and 10 grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers and three sisters. He was a member of St. Remy Church, Russia, St. Joseph Sodality, Knights of Columbus, Third Degree St. Remy and Fourth Degree St. Gaspar Del Bufalo. He was past Eucharistic minister for the homebound, a church usher and past parish council. He was past chairman of Russia Homecoming, past officer of the Russia Civic Association, and a member of St. John choir. He was employed in sales and retired from Treaty Company/Hughes Supply, Plumbing and Heating after 35 years. Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating.
