Shirley Harrod Shirley Ann Harrod, 55, 125 First Ave., Coldwater, died at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6, 2006, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. Death was due to a sudden illness. She was born Oct. 13, 1950, in Mercer County, to Lloyd Duane and Glenna Leigh Webb Studer. On Dec. 17, 1975, she married Donald E. Harrod, who survives in Coldwater. Also surviving are two sons, Donald Jr., of Texas, and John, Coldwater; six daughters, Lisa, Newark, Linda and Debbie, both of Texas, Penny, Toledo, Amy, Cleveland, and Jacqueline, Minster; two brothers, Bill Studer, of Mich., and David Studer, of R.I.; two sisters, Sandy Mayfield, Union City, and Pat Stocker, of Tenn.; and 12 grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Rhonda; a brother, Bernard Studer; and a sister, Helen Britt. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Vickie Jones, 56, 327 South Main St., St. Marys, died at 2:10 a.m. Sept. 7, 2006, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. She was born May 10, 1950, in Celina, to Homer and Patricia Cotterman Chilcoat. She married Ralph T. Jones, who survives in St. Marys. Also surviving are a son, Richard Brown, St. Marys; three daughters, Serena Kennedy (Freddie Clark), Burleson, Texas, Patricia (Allen) Brunswick, Bryant, Ind., and Savanah (Christopher) Rhodes, St. Marys; a brother, Jerry (Tammy) Chilcoat, St. Marys; and five sisters, Pam (Steve) Weigel, Penny (Bruce) Glass, Peg (Kurt) Snyder and Stacy Koeper, all of St. Marys, and Sheila Chilcoat, Las Vegas, Nev. Deceased are a son, James Brown; a brother, Butch Chilcoat; and a sister, Shelly Slone. She retired from the former Huffy Bicycle Co., Celina, and was homemaker. St. Peter native Anna Matilda "Tillie" Tisdale, 85, of Sacramento, Calif., died at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 5, 2006, at Kaiser Hospital, Sacramento. She was born Sept. 30, 1920, in St. Peter, to Chris and Agnes Kanoth. Her husband of 43 years, Vernon Tisdale, survives in Sacramento. Also surviving are a son, Michael (Anne), Sacramento; two sisters, Anna Marie Steinbrunner, St. Joe, and Christine Bernard, Venice, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Kanoth, Coldwater; and two granddaughters. Deceased are three brothers, John, Ed and Henry Kanoth; and two sisters, Loretta Braun and Alvina Laux. She was employed by Sutter Hospitals as a nurse supervisor for 24 years, and retired in Dec. 1984. She previously worked for Dr. Benning, Fort Recovery, and was a surgery nurse at the former Gibbons Hospital, Celina. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a lieutenant in the Korean War and World War II. She attended school at St. Peter and Fort Recovery and was a member of the Arden Park Garden Club, Sacramento. Funeral Mass is 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen The First Martyr Catholic Church, Sacramento. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Celina native Charles F. "Chuck" Whited Jr., 57, of Kossuth died at 7:57 a.m. Sept. 7, 2006, at his home. Death was due to kidney cancer. He was born Sept. 16, 1948, in Celina, to Charles F. and Mary Ellen Schwarck Whited Sr. He was raised by his mother and uncle, Bill Schwarck. On Sept. 5, 1970, he married Roberta Lee Ralston, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Jason, at home; three daughters, Lichele (Rob) Olberding, Jackson Center, Shondra (Kip) Hoover, Kossuth, and Ashley A., Taylor University, Upland, Ind.; a brother, John (Sue), Ohio City; a sister-in-law, Arliss Herron, Kossuth, and four grandchildren. He worked as an electrician at the Lima Engine Plant of Ford Motor Company for 28 years and recently took medical retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving as a GCA radar technician. He was a 1966 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, and attended The Ohio State University, Columbus. He was a member of the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, Spencerville, and the U.A.W. Local 1219. Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Steve Coburn officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery near Mendon, with graveside rites by American Legion Post 191 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, both of Spencerville.
