Ruthelene Arnold

Celina native Ruthelene Emma Arnold, 87, of Middletown, Md., died Oct. 6, 2006, at her daughter's home in Middletown.
   She was born July 8, 1919, in Celina, to Howard William and Ella Anna Viereck Crogman. She married Francis D. Arnold, who died Jan. 8, 2004.
   Survivors are a son, Larry D. (Sue), Mission Viejo, Calif.; two daughters, Kathy A. (Steve) Schultz, Middletown, and Lynette K. (Mark) Strakbein, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Harry W. (Naomi) Crogman, Celina; two sisters, Mary Ellen Kuhn, Celina, and Doris Ann (Don) Cook, St. Marys; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
   Deceased is a son, Donald G.
   She retired from Reynolds & Reynolds Co. and the former Goldsteins Childrens Shop, both of Celina. She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Tucson.
   Services are 8 p.m. Tuesday at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, the Rev. Mark A. Wakefield officiating, and 5 p.m. Thursday at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, Tucson.
   Calling is after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and after 3 p.m. Thursday at East Lawn.
   Contributions can be made to the church memorial garden or to Hospice of Frederick Co., Frederick, Md.


Edward Conradi

New Bremen native Edward C. Conradi, 67, M.D., of Mount Pleasant, S.C., died Oct. 7, 2006, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
   Arrangements are pending at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen.


Craig Meier

Craig Alan Meier, 28, of Pittsenbarger Road, Versailles, died the morning of Oct. 7, 2006, following an electrical accident at a farm on state Route 47, Versailles.
   He was born Sept. 30, 1978, in Coldwater, to Dale D. and Jane L. Selhorst Meier, who survive in Versailles.
   Also surviving are three sisters, Lisa (Gary) Bertke, Maria Stein, Karen (Tim) Paul, New Bremen, and Amy (Jim) Dirksen, Maria Stein; and a grandmother, Bertha Selhorst, Coldwater.
   Deceased is a brother, Douglas, who also was killed in the same accident.
   He was a farmer and was employed at the Darke County Highway Garage. He was a 1997 graduate of Versailles High School, where he was active in FFA and earned a State Farmer's Degree while in school. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, and was an usher and communion distributor, and also was current vice president of Marion Young Farmers, a member of Dairy Farmers of America and McBo's Tuesday Night Bowling League.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
   Contributions can be made to the Friends of Hole Field Foundation.


Douglas Meier

Douglas Richard Meier, 20, of Pittsenbarger Road, Versailles, died the morning of Oct. 7, 2006, following an electrical accident at a farm on state Route 47, Versailles.
   He was born Aug. 31, 1986, in Coldwater, to Dale D. and Jane L. Selhorst Meier.
   Also surviving are three sisters, Lisa (Gary) Bertke, Maria Stein, Karen (Tim) Paul, New Bremen, and Amy (Jim) Dirksen, Maria Stein; and a grandmother, Bertha Selhorst, Coldwater.
   Deceased is a brother, Craig, who also was killed in the same accident.
   He was a farmer, a substitute driver for the Greenville office of the U.S. Postal Service and worked for Shardo's Pallets, Willowdell. He was a 2005 graduate of Versailles High School, where he was active in the Industrial Technology Club. He also was active in FFA, achieved the State Farmers Degree and won at state with the Dairy Judging Team. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, where he served as usher. He was a substitute bowler for McBo's Tuesday Night Bowling League.

Dale Link

Former Celina resident Dale Link, 59, of Troy, died Oct. 7, 2006, at his home.
   He was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Hamilton, to Earl and Mildred Link Myers. His mother survives and his stepfather, Virgil, is deceased. His wife Linda, also survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Wes and Matthew (Antoinette); two daughters, Tonya Cross and Angie (Tony) Abshire; three stepsons, Archie Newsome, Andy (Shawna) Newsome and Jeff (Penny) White; a stepdaughter, Tina (Don) Gramann; two brothers, Denny (Deana) and Donnie (Joe); three sisters, Gail (Jim) Livesburger, Shelia (Louie) Colgate and Judy (Richard) Peek; and 17 grandchildren.
   Deceased is a brother, Raymond.
   He retired after 30 years with the Harrison Township Road Department. He also worked 20 years with the Harrison Township Fire Department and most recently at Behm's Restaurant in rural Celina. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3025 and Sons of the American Legion Post 470, both of Coldwater, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, Celina.
   Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at George C. Martin Funeral Home, North Dayton Chapel, Dayton, the Rev. Mike Vencill officiating. Burial is at Forest Hills Cemetery, Tipp City.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton.


Loretta Link

Former Coldwater Beach resident Loretta Rose Link, 86, died at 11:35 a.m. Oct. 7, 2006, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
   She was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Carthagena, to Joseph and Catherine Lehmann Bertke. On May 4, 1940, she married Leo Link, who died in 1999.
   Survivors are two sons, Ralph and Ronald, both of Celina; four daughters, Mary C. (Hap) Sercu, Dayton, Patricia (Jerry) Harrington, Flint, Mich., Linda Knox, Celina, and Karen (John) Puthoff, Montezuma; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a son, Robert; three brothers, Edward, Lawrence and Elmer Bertke; three sisters, Hilda Lucking, Alvina Birt and Helen Bertke; a daughter-in-law, Jean; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
   She was a homemaker. She also was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma; Women of the Moose, Celina; Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Lodge 1291, Celina; American Legion Auxiliary Post 210, Celina; and Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary, Maria Stein.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
