David Foster David Vaughn Foster, 41, of Mount Prospect, Ill., died Oct. 27, 2006, following a short battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 17, 1964, in Adams County, to Richard V. and R. Marlene Thompson Foster, who survive in Peebles. On May 13, 1995, he married Lori Schrolucke, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, H. Madelleine, Mount Prospect; two brothers, Christopher (Michelle), Columbus, and Timothy, Peebles; and a sister, Kimberly (Kevin) Breech, McDermott. He was a food scientist and worked for 17 years at Barrington, Ill., and Pleasanton, Calif., research facilities. He most recently held the position of principal scientist and earned several patents after joining the research and development division of Quaker Oats/Pepsico Company in 1989. He was a 1982 graduate of Peebles High School and received bachelor and master of science degrees in food science from The Ohio State University. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Northwest Assembly of God Church, Mount Prospect. Graveside services and burial are 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Martha P. Heck, 69, 220 W. Walnut St., Mendon, died at 11:40 a.m. Oct. 27, 2006, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford. She was born April 14, 1937, in Bellefontaine, to Zura and Elsie Davis Dunno. On Oct. 8, 1955, she married James A. Heck, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Andy (Nickie), Mendon, and Mike (Carrie), Van Wert; two daughters, Rebecca Heck Getzindiner, Cambridge Springs, Pa., and Jessica (Mike) Heck-Stelzer, Mendon; two brothers, Frank Dunno, Celina, and Richard Dunno, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Alice Dunbar, Defiance; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She retired after 25 years of service as an aide at the Mendon and Parkway school districts. A 1955 graduate of Van Wert High School, she was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Rockford and its women's group and taught catechism and served as secretary of the church council for many years. She also was a member and 20-year secretary/treasurer of the Grand Lake Motorcycle Club, and a member and 25-year secretary of the Mendon Women's Civic Club. Albert L. Knapke, 88, 3991 state Route 219, Coldwater, died at 3:10 p.m. Oct. 29, 2006, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater. He was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Coldwater, to John and Elizabeth Bruns Knapke. On Oct. 23, 1946, he married Dorothy Wenning, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Marvin (Terri), Coldwater; a daughter, Linda (Ralph) Higby, Zanesville; a sister-in-law, Victoria, Coldwater; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Deceased are four brothers, Norbert, Roman, Leo and Lawrence; two sisters, Helen Balster and Eleanor Saalman; and a great-grandchild. He was a farmer and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3025 and Knights of Columbus Council 1991, all of Coldwater. Former Celina resident Patrick J. Moran, 74, of Old Hickory, Tenn., died Oct. 29, 2006. He was born March 9, 1932, in St. Marie, Ill. His wife of 51 years, Johnnie Moran, survives. Also surviving are a son, Michael (Linda Boniface); three daughters, Cindy (Gary) Tipton, Cheryl (Gordon) Cruse and Beth Moore; a brother, F.O. Moran; four sisters, Olivia Carter, Teresa Coleman, Mary Lambird and Loretta Hineman; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Deceased are 14 brothers and sisters and a son-in-law, David Moore. He had worked at a feed and grain elevator in Celina. Lucille A. Snyder, 88, of the Gardens at Wapakoneta, died at 12:42 p.m. Oct. 30, 2006, at The Gardens at Celina. She was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Mercer County, to Frank and Elizabeth Eyink Rosengarten. On Feb. 9, 1952, she married Warren S. Snyder, who died April 4, 2000. Survivors are two sisters-in-law, Rosie Rosengarten, Gardendale, Ala., and Mary Rosengarten, Kettering. Deceased are four brothers, Arnold, Linus, Roman and Urban Rosegarten; and two sisters, Julianna Burkett and Delores Coats. A 1936 graduate of Coldwater High School, she was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins, and its Ladies Sodality.
