Louis Dammeyer

Louis L. Dammeyer, 78, 2117 Deerfield Court, St. Marys, formerly of 10566 Tri-Township Road, died at 8:41 a.m. Sept, 25, 2004, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   He was born April 21, 1926, in Auglaize County, to Elmer and Anna Quellhorst Dammeyer. On Dec. 2, 1950, she married Wanda M. Vogel who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Karl (Denise) of St. Marys and Kurt (Angela) of Walton, Ky.; three daughters, Karen (Allen) Imwalle, St. Marys, Kathy Wellman and Kaye (Jim) Coon, all of Lima; a brother, Chester (Joanne) of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth (Bill) Henschen, St. Marys, and Mary (Arlan) Schmidt, Celina; 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
   He had owned and operated a dairy farm, served as a St. Marys Township trustee and delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels program. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club, the Men's Garden Club, the Odd Fellows Club and American Legion Post 323, all of St. Marys, the Auglaize County Fair Board and the Auglaize County Trustees and Clerks Association. He also served on the board of trustees at Joint Township District Memorial High School, St. Marys, and Wright State University Lake Campus, Celina.
   A 1944 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a 1948 graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in dairy science, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
   Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Revs. Ed Groff and Mary Kay Brown officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Elizabeth Dirksen

Elizabeth Ida Dirksen, 86, 14807 U.S. 127, New Weston, died at 12:20 a.m. Sept. 25, 2004, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
   She was born April 14, 1918, in Tennessee. On Aug. 29, 1936, she married Gregory Dirksen who died Nov. 2, 1998.
   Surviving are six sons, Clete and Ronald (Marilyn), all of New Weston, David (Rosemary) of Madison, Ind., Bernard (Anita) of Rossburg, John (Shirley) of Portersville, Miss., and Michael (Sherry) of Greenville; a daughter, Kathleen (Carl) Gasson, Versailles; a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Randy) Schulze, Fremont; 25 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a son, William; infant twins, Mary Margaret and Mary Ann; a brother, a sister and a grandchild.
   She was a homemaker and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

August Ginter

August F. "Buzz" Ginter, 77, 3790 Celina Road, St. Marys, died in the early morning hours of Sept. 26, 2004, at his home.
   He was born Oct. 17, 1926, in St. Marys, to Vernon and Augusta (Gordon) Ginter. He married Nina M. Crow, who survives.
   Other survivors are a son, Tom (Carol) Patterson, Gallup, N.M.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
   Deceased are seven brothers and sisters.
   He was retired from the St. Marys municipal power plant and also had worked for Carpenter Bros. Amusements. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
   Calling is 6-8 p.m. today and one hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.


Ruth Ann Koesters

Ruth Ann Koesters, 64, 720 W. Walnut St., Coldwater, died Sept. 25, 2004, at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. Death was due to injuries received in a car-pedestrian accident in St. Henry. (See story on A-1)
   She was born July 11, 1940, in St. Henry, to Julius and Matilda Timmerman Brunswick. On June 3, 1961, she married Charles A. Koesters who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Eric (Vicki) of St. Henry and Joseph (Kelly) of Pickerington; four daughters, Linda (Rick) Stalder, Dar (Eric) Miller and Julie (Kevin) Lange, all of Coldwater, and Bev (Pat) Hoyng, Dublin; a brother, Donald (Doris Ann) Brunswick, St. Henry; three sisters, Mary Agnes Grube, Fort Recovery, Delores Brackman, St. Henry, and Della Mae (Al) Kanney, Coldwater; and 13 grandchildren.
   One grandchild is deceased.
   She was employed as a cafeteria worker in the Coldwater Exempted Village Schools. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality, St. Cecelia Knights of St. John Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Coldwater, and the Catholic Knights of America, Cassella.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
   Calling is 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
   Contributions can be made to the Coldwater Schools Memorial Trust Fund.


Alexander McCourtie

Alexander MCourtie, 78, 405 Baywood Lane, Celina, died at 1:11 a.m. Sept. 26, 2004, at SCCI Hospital in Lima.
   He was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Akron, to Robert and Eva (Aiken) McCourtie. On April 15, 1950, he married Mary Lou Pfeifle, who survives.
   Other survivors are a son, Timothy (Jean) McCourtie, Fort Shawnee; a daughter, Laurie (Charlie) Rohrer, Celina; a sister, Janet Merriman, Talmadge; a sister-in-law, Betty McCourtie, Talmadge; and four grandchildren.
   Deceased are a brother, James, and two sisters, Joan and Helen.
   He was a graduate of East High School in Akron and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys in 1987. He was a member of New Community Church, St. Marys.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys, the Revs. Dale Leinbach and Troy Green officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the church.


Catherine Raffel

Catherine D. "Kate" Raffel, 84, of Greenville, died at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 25, 2004, at her home.
   She was born July 8, 1920, in Dayton, to Henry and Philamena (Maehs) Reigelsperger. On April 30, 1949, she married Frank. C. Raffel, who died in 1982.
   Survivors are five sons, Charles (Nancy), Lawrence, and Chris (Pam), all of Greenville, and Donald (Vickie), Indianapolis, Ind., and John (Shri), Rossburg; a daughter, Mary Kay Beisner, Greenville; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
   She had formerly worked at Delco Products in Dayton and later was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville.
   Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednedsday at the church, the Rev. John White officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. A prayer service is set for 4:30 p.m., also at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the church.
