Donald Baxter

Donald L. Baxter, 77, 114 South Wayne St., St. Marys, died at 10:04 a.m. March 2, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
   He was born Jan. 29, 1929, in St. Marys, to J. Edward and Annetta Achbach Baxter. On July 14, 1951, he married Jane Althoff who passed away Nov. 3, 1989.
   Survivors are a daughter, Linda (Joe) Lochtefeld, New Bremen; and a grandson.
   Deceased are two brothers, Richard and Robert.
   He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as an artillery instructor during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1947 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys and Toledo Barber College. He was a licensed realtor and broker and owner of Baxter Real Estate Company. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose 1473, Celina, and American Legion Post 323 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, St. Marys.
   Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. John Bernstein officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Physician Care Center Cancer Research.


Evelyn Faust

Former Celina resident Evelyn M. Faust, 87, of Naples, Fla., died February 28, 2006, at Hospice of Naples.
   She was born May 19, 1918, in Moline, Ill., to James Guy and Mildred Swanson Stoneking. On June 19, 1937, she married Ellwood Faust, who survives.
   Also surviving are four daughters, Janet (Richard) Hickman, Naples, Jill (Lloyd) Abert, Defiance, Mo., Jacqueline (Richard) Vincent, Oceanport, N.J., and Jayne (Joe) Jackson of Monmouth Beach, N.J.; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a sister, Phyllis Herbst, Moline; and nine brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
   She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Moline, Ill., and St. John's Lutheran Church of Celina. She was a Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout leader.
   Private services were Thursday at Naples Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Shaun Fink

Shaun Daniel Fink, 20, of Palm Coast, Fla., died Feb. 27, 2006, in Palm Coast from injuries sustained in a motor-vehicle accident.
   Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.


Hazel Lauth

Hazel Lauth, 85, of rural Spencerville, died at 7:50 p.m. March 2, 2006, in Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville. She had resided there since 2001.
   She was born July 15, 1920, in Auglaize County, to Harry W. and Bertha McAfee Huckemeyer. On Sept. 15, 1942, she married Richard W. Lauth, who died Sept. 14, 1991.
   Survivors are four daughters, Debra (Larry) Camper, Elida, and Barbara (Gerald) Coil, Linda (Randall) Miller and Shirley (Larry) Mueller, all of Spencerville; a sister, Anna (Wavel) Shivley, Wapakoneta; five sisters-in-law, Leona Huckemeyer, Celina, Dorothy Burnett, Venedocia, Mabel Reynolds, Delphos, and Ruth Detrick and Jenny Axe, both of Spencerville; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
   Deceased are two brothers, Walter and Marion Huckemeyer; a sister, Florence McCarty; and a grandchild.
   She was a homemaker and 1938 graduate of Spencerville High School. She was a member of the New Salem Presbyterian Church, Monticello.
   Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Revs. Susan Figley and Andrew Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery.
   Calling is 3-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the charity of donor's choice.


James Lawrence

James E. Lawrence, 82, 1013 Kensington Lane, Celina, died at 5:45 p.m. March 1, 2006, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
   He was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Dunkirk, to Mearl and Donna Basore Lawrence. On Oct. 15, 1944, he married Nancy Jane Blue, who survives.
   Also surviving are a son, Rob (Wendy), Warrensburg, Mo.; four daughters, Becky (Ted) Harter, Elkhart, Ind., Rhonda (Chuck) Moeller, Celina, Gena (Terry) Germann, Fort Wayne, and Rita (Tim) Clutter, Celina; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
   He retired from Huffy, operated the St. Marys Dairy Queen and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a past president of Celina City Council and volunteer at Celina Area Visiting Nurses & Hospice and the Mercer County Historical Society. He was a member of the Celina Chamber of Commerce and Grand Lake Toast Masters. He also was a 60-year member and past master of the Masonic Lodge and past worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Dunkirk.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
   Contributions can be made to Call Food Pantry and Mercer County Historical Society.


Luella Luthman

Luella Catherine Luthman, 82, former Siegrist-Jutte Road resident, died at 1:15 p.m. March 1, 2006, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
   She was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Mercer County, to Constant and Rose Will Schwieterman. On April 12, 1947, she married Andrew Luthman, who died June 16, 2001.
   Survivors are three sons, Charles (Paula), Celina, Thomas (Jill Foster), Carmel, Ind., and Nicholas (Pamela), Ramstein, Germany; four daughters, Shirley, Celina, Marilyn (Dan) Taylor, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Joanne (John Caldwell), Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Harold (Ruth) Schwieterman, Portland, Ind.; a sister, Evelyn Geise, Coldwater; a half brother, Edgar (Helen) Schwieterman, Delphos; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a daughter, Patricia; and a brother-in-law, Robert Geise.
   She was a homemaker and member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Carthagena, and St. Monica Ladies Sodality.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
