Mary Campbell

Former St. Marys resident Mary "Bonnie" Campbell, 88, died at 5:40 p.m. March 21, 2006, at Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys.
   Arrangements are pending at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.


Clara Crombie

St. Henry native Clara B. Crombie, 78, former Ashtabula resident, died March 17, 2006, at Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene, Texas.
   She was born March 21, 1927, in St. Henry, to Henry and Emilia Kevelder Borger. Her husband of over 20 years, Paul Rogers, survives in Abilene, Texas.
   Also surviving are two sons, Richard Howard II (Evelyn) and Edward C., all of Chardon; a daughter, Candace Kehres, Abilene, two stepsons, Paul (Janet) Rogers II, of Buda, Texas, and Richard (Patti) Rogers, Abilene, two sisters, Eva Weitzel, Celina, and Annie Bertke, St. Henry; and four grandchildren.
   Deceased is her first husband, Richard H. Crombie; and two sisters, Margaret Bierly and Norma Borger.
   She retired as a teacher at Thomas Jefferson and McKinsey Elementary Schools in the Ashtabula Area City School District. She graduated from Kent State University with a teaching degree.
   Funeral Mass is noon Friday at St. Joseph Church, Ashtabula, the Rev. Philip Miller officiating. Burial is in Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut.
   Calling is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, Ashtabula.

Robert Knapke

Robert C. Knapke, 76, of Coldwater, died March 20, 2006, at his residence.
   He was born March 17, 1930, in Philothea, to Edward H. and Helen Dues Knapke. On Nov. 30, 1951, he married Mary Jane Marchal, who passed away in 1959. On May 6, 1961, he married Josie Marchal, who passed away in 2001.
   Survivors are three sons, Larry (Martha), Celina, and Bruce (Vicki), Glen Rock, Pa., and Doug, Coldwater; three daughters, Cindy (Mike) Shaffer, Celina, Kris (Al) Wenger, Mountain Home, Idaho, and Joan (Mike) Roll, St. Henry; three brothers, Jerry (Marlene), Coldwater, James, Hoagland, Ind., and Edward (Toni), Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Mary Lou (Walter) Fortener, Coldwater; a brother-in-law, Louis Braun, St. Henry; 21 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
   Deceased are a sister, Sylvia Braun; and four stepbrothers, Alfred, Arthur, Elmer and Robert Geise.
   He was employed part-time at Pax Machine, Celina, and was the past owner of Knapke Motor Sales, Coldwater. He was a former Coldwater volunteer fireman for 20 years, serving as assistant chief. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1991, Fraternal Order of Eagles 3025, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1473, all of Celina, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5135 and American Legion Post 470, both of Coldwater.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Larry Schamp

Larry Schamp, 61, 04473 Lock Fourteen Road, St. Marys, died at 8:21 a.m. March 21, 2006, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, following an extended illness.
   He was born Nov. 3, 1944, in St. Marys, to John and Elma Schwepe Schamp.
   Survivors are a son, Dennis (Ellette), Columbus; three daughters, Gina (Ken) Schnipke, Columbus, Kimberly (Scott) Taylor, Columbus, and Jill (Kyle) Jamar, Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Caroline (Robert) Lewis, Dayton; and five grandchildren.
   He was a lifelong farmer and a 1962 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the church, Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, or the James Cancer Center, Columbus.


Cletus Weitzel

Cletus B. Weitzel, 86, 404 E. Broadway St., Fort Recovery, died at 6:05 p.m. March 21, 2006, at Jay County Hospital, Portland, Ind.
   Arrangements are pending at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
