Roger Schwieterman

Roger A. Schwieterman, 76, of Maria Stein, died June 26, 2006, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
   He was born Sept. 7, 1929, in St. Sebastian, to Arthur Schwieterman and Mary Dorsten Schwieterman-Jutte. His step-father was Ted Jutte. On Sept. 30, 1950, he married Dorothy Clune, who died March 24, 1974. On Aug. 2, 1975, he married Delores R. Mescher Quinter, who survives.
   Also surviving are three sons, Bob (Linda), Chickasaw, Jeff (Marcia), Maria Stein, and Curt, Lima; four daughters, Sandy (Gene) Stutzenstein, Toledo, Deb (John) Albers, New Bremen, Diane (Bob) Otting, Maria Stein, and Laura (Kevin) Griesdorn, Maria Stein; five brothers, Mark (Rosemary), Maria Stein, Orval (Helen), Coldwater, Donald (Dorothy) Jutte, Sidney, Edgar Jutte , Mexico, and Tom (Vivian) Jutte, Bellefontaine; a sister, Madonna (John) Brunswick, Coldwater; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
   He was a licensed meat cutter and manager of the Locker Plant, Minster. For 18 years he owned the Korner Kafe, Maria Stein, and for 16 years he was Mercer County Auditor. He was president of the Mercer County Development Organization for two terms and held offices in the state of Ohio Auditors Association. He was chairman of the Mercer County Democratic party for six years and a past president of the Public Employees Retirement Investment Organization. He was a former Scout leader and past president of the Marion Local Band Boosters.
   He attended St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein, and was a past president of the Men's Society and Knights of St. John, helping build their hall in Maria Stein.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial is at St. John Cemetery, Maria Stein.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
   Contributions can be made to the Gerad Center for Cancer Treatment.
