Bernice Frilling
Bernice "Bernie" Mary Frilling, 71, of Fort Loramie-Swanders Road, Minster, died at 10:57 a.m. Aug. 3, 2006, at Wilson Memorial Hospital emergency room, Sidney. Death was due to natural causes after a sudden illness at her residence.
She was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Burkettsville, to Ernest and Lena Pottkotter Hemmelgarn Sr. On Aug. 17, 1957, she married Harold J. Frilling, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Steve (Marlene), Randy (Greta) and Alan (Deb), all of Fort Loramie, and Gary (Brenda), of Anna; four daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Kuck, New Bremen, Cindy (Jeff) Replogie and Doris (Paul) Monnier, all of Houston; and Sue (Bill) Hoying, Fort Loramie; two brothers, Ernest (Helen) and Jerry (Norma) Hemmelgarn, all of Versailles; two sisters, Betty (Julius) Jutte, Fort Recovery, and Ruth (Bob) Bettinger, Apollo Beach, Fla.; and 23 grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Jean Ann Hemmelgarn and Marcell Meyer.
She was a homemaker and retired in 2000 after 43 years as secretary-office manager of Harold Frilling Insurance Agency, Fort Loramie. She was a 1952 graduate of Versailles High School.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, its parish council and a catechist, all Fort Loramie. She was a member and past president of Fort Loramie American Legion Post 355 Auxiliary; and member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1473, Celina; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, Minster; Newport Sportsmen Club; and Fort Loramie GYM Committee and athletic booster club.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
