Towing company personnel secure a Honda Goldwing motorcycle following an accident at 9:46 a.m. Aug. 21 on state Route 49, south of St. Joe Road. Carl L. Lichtenberger, 73, of Decatur, Ind., was driving southbound in a road construction zone when he moved over to the northbound lane for a flagger. Lichtenberger lost control while returning to the southbound lane due to a 2-inch lip in the pavement. He drove off the pavement and into the ditch striking a utility pole. The motorcyclist, who was ejected and wearing a helmet at the time, was taken by ambulance to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. No information was available on his condition due to federal patient privacy regulations.
