Getting down to the bones
Photo by Shelley Grieshop/The Daily Standard

Celina's infamous Blue Goose, the city's failed former power plant, is almost gone. Salvage crews are nearing the end of work to dismantle the building to make room for new city water treatment equipment. The city is to be paid approximately $28,000 for the scrap value of the metal at the site. The Blue Goose has been a lakefront landmark for more than 35 years but never produced the electricity it was supposed to generate and was closed within a few years of being built.
