Pollution suggested as cause for not netting big ones

Two bass fishing tournaments held on Grand Lake have been canceled for this year, and Lake Development Corporation (LDC) members wonder if the reason is the lake's poor water quality.
"We had 102 registered tournaments on the lake last year and a couple of big ones are not coming back in 2007," Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Manager Craig Morton said during the LDC's meeting on Monday. [More]
Area residents injured in separate accidents

Two people, including a retired priest who had served parishes in Minster and St. Henry, were seriously injured Monday in a pair of traffic accidents on rural Mercer County roadways.

Celina councilors delay action on wetland project for walkway
An expected final vote to proceed with a wetlands mitigation project never materialized at Monday's Celina City Council meeting because of the absence of two council members.

Mayor reports Coldwater's improvements and growth
COLDWATER - Twelve major construction projects were completed in 2006, Mayor Vern Stammen reported in his state of the village address at Monday's council meeting.
St. Henry residents to see increase in utility prices
ST. HENRY - Village council members unanimously approved an increase of utility prices during the regular meeting Monday evening.
Residents now will pay $7 more on their monthly water and sewer bill - an annual increase of $84.
Current mayor will not seek re-election
ST. HENRY -  Mayor Lavern Schulze will not be running for re-election at November's general election.
At the end of his annual state of the village report during a Monday night village council meeting, Schulze told council members that 2007 will be his last year of service.
