Two arrests made in more than 70 vehicle break-ins
Crimes occur in Mercer, Auglaize and Allen counties

Authorities have in custody two men and a teenage boy who allegedly broke into more than 70 vehicles in a recent crime spree in Mercer, Auglaize and Allen counties.
Arrested in St. Marys on Friday evening during a surveillance detail by officers were Billy Ray Pate, 20, Nicholas M. Redman, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, all of Wapakoneta. Pape and Redman each have been charged with felony theft and are expected to appear in Auglaize County Municipal Court today. [More]

Fatal accident first of 2008
A 52-year-old Waynesfield man was killed when he lost control of his car on U.S. 33 in eastern Auglaize County early Sunday morning.
Pronounced dead at the scene was William L. Monroe. There were no passengers in Monroe's Saturn, which sustained extensive damage to the driver's side.
