Harold McDermott
Harold C. McDermott, 92, formerly of 177 Buckeye Court, Westerville and Sidney, died at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19, 2008, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
He was born June 14, 1915, in Clinton County, to Robert and Vadah Hodgson McDermott. On June 17, 1939, he married Edith Wright, who died Sept. 9, 2000.
Survivors are two sons, Roger (Patricia), Vonore, Tenn., and Gregory (Jacqueline), Fairlawn; a daughter, Kathleen (Scott) Adie, Cuyahoga Falls; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne, London, Tenn.; two sisters, Margene (Robert) Herman, Wapakoneta, and Mary Louise Johnston, Findlay; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Gordon; a brother, Fred; and a sister, Polly Easter.
He was an educator and served as a science teacher and assistant principal for the Martinsville schools, a biology and chemistry teacher for the Sidney Public Schools and was superintendent of Westerville Public Schools. He later worked as a consultant for Freytag Architects in Sidney. He was a member of Kiwanis International in Sidney and Westerville, and St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and the University of Cincinnati.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the Meyer Community Chapel at Otterbein, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial is at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
Calling is one hour prior to services at the chapel.
