Donald Bertke
Donald H. "Don" Bertke, 52, of 1910 Benson Drive, Dayton, died at 3 p.m. May 31, 2008, at his residence. Death was due to cancer.
He was born June 3, 1955, in Celina, to Cyril E. and Dorothy E. Dahlinghaus Bertke.
Survivors are two sisters, Sharon (Mike) Lhamon, St. Marys, and Denise (Phil) Keegan, Middletown.
He was an elementary teacher for Dayton City Schools and taught at Jefferson and E.J. Brown Elementary Schools. He was the recipient of the Jennings Scholar Award from Dayton City Schools. He graduated from Celina Senior High School in 1973, and received bachelors and masters degrees in teaching from Wright State University. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dayton, and a member of the National Education Association and Ohio Education Association.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, and Saturday one hour prior to service at the church.
