Rita McDevitt
Former Coldwater resident, Rita M. McDevitt, 89, died at 3:23 p.m. June 26, 2008, at the Gardens at Celina.
She was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Coldwater, to Edward B. and Olive E. Miehls Giere. On Aug. 17, 1949, she married Joseph E. McDevitt, who died May 24, 2002.
Survivors are a brother, Oliver Giere, Coldwater; four sisters-in-law, Ruth Brown, Wapakoneta, Betty and Gay, Giere, both of Coldwater, and Joan Giere, Orlando, Fla.
Deceased are seven brothers, LaMar, Ralph Norbert, Frederick, Edward Jr., Earl and Richard Giere; and two sisters, Valeria Otte and Salome Peters.
She retired from the offices of the former New Idea plant in Coldwater. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Richard Walling officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
