Light snow is expected to develop across the area after midnight, shifting to the southeast through the predawn hours. This band of light snow will affect the region by the Thursday morning commute, eventually pushing south of the area by mid- morning.
Minor snow accumulations of less than an inch are expected, but cold ground conditions will allow for quick accumulation on any untreated surfaces. The main impacts are expected to be reduced visibilities and some slick spots on untreated surfaces.
Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Thursday morning commute.

Charles Hawk
Rockford native Charles "Chuck" Preston Hawk, 76, of Henderson, Nev., died Sept. 15, 2008, at Nathan Adelson Hospice, Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Rockford to A.J. and Fay Roberts Hawk. His wife, Sandra Katz, survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Casey (Kim Savage) Hawk, Spokane, Wash., and Mark (Lisa) Katz, Henderson; three daughters, Julie (Steven) Hymovitch, Phoenix, Ariz., and Teri (Pat) Gregg and Audrey Grisez, all of Maryland; a brother, Lee (Bev) of Ohio; two sisters, Anita (Dick) Clutter and Joanne Miller, all of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Judy; two former stepdaughters, Alexis and Andrea; and a former stepson, Justin; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He worked as an insulator in Maryland and Nevada and was a building superintendent in Nevada. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
A celebration of his life will be held Sept. 27, 2008; details of the event will be provided by the family. He will be buried in Nevada.
