Snow showers associated with an arctic front are moving through this morning, providing a quick accumulation of snowfall. With wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph, the snow showers combined with blowing snow are reducing visibility and creating challenging travel conditions. These conditions are most impactful on roads that are more rural and are aligned from north to south. Even after the snow ends, elevated winds will continue to blow snow into the early afternoon.
Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

An Arctic front will sweep east across the region between 5 AM and 9 AM. A few hours of snow showers and west wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph will occur with the frontal passage. While any accumulations will generally be a half inch or less, some challenging travel conditions may develop given, rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities, strong wind and cold temperatures. These conditions will impact the morning commute. Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

* WHERE...Portions of east central Indiana and central and west central Ohio.
* WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 10 AM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

Helen Suchland
Helen E. Suchland, 90, of 9 Haarbye St., New Bremen, died at 11:56 p.m. Dec. 28, 2008, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Feb. 20, 1918, near Wabash to John and Catherine Powell Menchhofer. On Oct. 18, 1942, she married Harold L. Suchland, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons, Harold E. (Barbara), Jim (Shirley), Michael (Janet), all of New Bremen, and Tom (Carol), North Pole, Alaska; a brother, Martin (Marge) Menchhofer, St. Marys; 20 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Beatrice Nolte and Kathryn Knapp; and two brothers, Cletus Menchhofer Sr. and Herbert Menchhofer.
She worked at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, St. Marys, and along with her husband, owned and operated the former Suchland's Flowers and Greenhouse in New Bremen. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, the Dorcas Society and Women of ELC, all of the church, and taught Sunday school for a number of years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, New Bremen, was a Cub Scout den mother and a past president of the New Bremen Band Boosters.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. William Maki officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Contributions can be made to the church memorial fund, the American Legion Auxiliary or the New Bremen Emergency Squad.
