Clarence Poeppelman
Clarence F. Poeppelman, 87, of Versailles, died at 9:23 a.m. March 17, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 14, 1921, in Osgood to Bernard and Rosa Arling Poeppelman. On Oct. 29, 1949, he married his first wife, Mary Rita Zimmerman, who died May 2, 1993. On June 18, 1994, he married his second wife, Shirley Boylan, who survives at the residence.
Other survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin (Amy) Poeppelman, Clarksburg, Md., James (Julie) Poeppelman, Versailles, John (Annette) Poeppelman, Stuart, Fla., and Fred (Stacy) Poeppelman, Versailles; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann (Sam) Robinson, Huber Heights, Jean (Marty) Tomasic, West Chester, Janet (Craig) Gardner, Oakbrook, Ill., Mary (Hayden) Roush, Versailles, Amy (the Rev. Steve) Harman, Yorkshire, Karen (Dan) Borchers, Versailles, Lisa (Karl) Burk, Greenville, and Julie (Kent) Kimmel, Ansonia; 30 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two granddaughters.
He retired in 1989 as the owner of C.F. Poeppelman, Inc., Bradford, and Pepcon, Inc., of Bradford and Versailles. He was a member of the Merchant Marines, St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, charter member of the Versailles Rotary Club, lifetime member and past president of the Knights of St. John, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Fraternal of Eagles of Versailles, Liars Club of Greenville, Versailles Life Squad, Ohio Aggregate Association, Versailles Development Association and the Versailles Pool Association.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial is at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
