Harold VanTilburg
Harold W. VanTilburg, 84, 9050 Celina-Mendon Road, Celina, died at 3:50 p.m. April 14, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Celina to Boyd and Icy Beougher VanTilburg. On Nov. 14, 1944, he married Helen Marie Schaadt, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, James (Brenda) VanTilburg, Celina, and Mark (Annie) VanTilburgh, Alpharetta, Georgia; a daughter, Janet (Gary) Morrison, Celina; a sister-in-law, Martha Schaadt, Celina; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother-in-law, Paul Schaadt.
He was a retired farmer and graduated from the former Neptune High School in 1942. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, past president of Center Township school board, past member of the fund raising committee MAC YMCA, past board member of the Mercer County Soil and Water Conservation District, past council member of St. John Lutheran church, past Sunday school superintendent, founder and past president of VanTilburg Farms, Inc., past president of Two Rivers Trailer Park Resident Association, past president of Center Township Farmers Institute, past president of Center Township Combined Drive, an honorary Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Lions Club, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Celina, and a veteran of World War II serving in Italy, where he trained military officers.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Paul Baglien officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour prior to service at the church.
