Rockford girl has raised, sold showy fall flowers as FFA project for 3 years
ROCKFORD - Samantha Beerbower is well into a multi-faceted FFA project that she began from the ground up. It's chrysanthemums. She's been raising and selling these colorful autumn posies for three years.

Much discussion must happen before Celina City Schools board of education changes the high school's current seven-period day to a five-period day in school year 2010-2011. The switch also would change the grading period from quarters to trimesters.
Attorneys for 23-year-old Nicholas Schwieterman of Chickasaw, who was sentenced to 24 years in prison for a quadruple traffic fatality, have filed another appeal. This time they are seeking to overturn Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Jeffrey Ingraham's decision to deny a new trial.

Local girls golf teams gathered at Stillwater Country Club to take part in the Versailles Lady Tiger Tee Invitational on Thursday.
The Mercer County Fair will have three days of harness racing as part of its schedule, starting Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. program.
Sunday's action will be highlighted by several events, including the presenation of Blue Ribbon Fair award given out by the United States Trotting Assocition.
