Catherine Barhorst
Catherine A. "Katie" Barhorst, 86, 94 S. Main St., Fort Loramie, died at 8:50 p.m. Jan. 11, 2010, at her home.
She was born June 12, 1923, in Dayton to Joseph and Adeline Hasebrook Helmstetter. On Nov. 2, 1951, she married Virgil E. Barhorst, who survives.
Also surviving are five children, Tim (Barbara) Barhorst, Cincinnati, Deb (Tom) Millhouse, New Bremen, Terry Barhorst, Cincinnati, Patrick (Thecla) Barhorst, Minster, and Tom (Fran) Barhorst, Fort Loramie; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Ralph and John Helmstetter; and a sister, Mary Ellen Bow.
She retired as an assistant postmaster in Fort Loramie and worked at the Fort Loramie Dry Cleaners. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its Rosary and Altar Sodality, and was a past member of the parish council. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Fort Loramie.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
