Paul Bertke
Paul W. Bertke, 82, St. Henry, died March 10, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster.
He was born May 23, 1927, in Celina to Dietrick and Alma Schulte Bertke. On May 3, 1952, he married Lucille "Lucy" May, who died on Jan. 19, 1991.
Surviving are four daughters, Marlene (Steve) Frilling, Minster, Peg (Jerry) Otte and Mary Lou (Stan) Bruns, all of Maria Stein, and Paula (Dave) Rutschilling, Yorkshire; two sisters, Pat (Tom) Hamberg, Coldwater, and Doris Birt, St. Henry; and 13 grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry American Legion, Coldwater Veterans of Foreign Wars and Coldwater Fraternal Order of Eagles. He worked at the former Avco New Idea in Coldwater. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Funderal Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Henry Catholic Church, the Rev. Thomas Hemm officiating. Burial is at St. Henry Cemetery, with military honors at the graveside by the St. Henry American Legion Firing Squad.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
