Topping off the school

St. Marys City Schools new building complex, located at the intersection of state Route 66 and U.S. 33, now boasts a cupola at a midpoint of the roof. Latin for "small cup," cupolas date back hundreds of years. The primary function originally was for ventilation and to access sunlight. The one placed Wednesday is solely an architectural embellishment and has no other significance for the district, according to school officials.
