Southerly winds will increase today ahead of an approaching cold front. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph can be expected with gusts of 35 to 45 mph at times this afternoon. Be sure to secure outdoor objects.

Slippery when wet

A semitrailer jack-knifed on the entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 33 from state Route 29 in St. Marys on Thursday, closing the ramp for one and a half hours. The Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the truck began to slide on the wet pavement as it jack-knifed. The driver, Randy Back of Carlisle, was not injured.
