Officials break ground for solar plant

CELINA - For a city of 10,000 people, Celina is thinking "mighty big" with its decision to create the Celina Renewable Energy Center, an installation that is likely the only one of its kind in the U.S., if not the world.
That's what Greg Kuss, company founder and CEO of Solar Vision LLC of Westerville, said as his company broke ground this morning on phase one of a 5-megawatt solar energy plant to be constructed on 30 acres at the new energy center off Meyer Road. [More]

COLDWATER - After a tough loss to St. Marys on Tuesday, Coldwater rebounded in a big win in Mercer County ACME circuit action on Wednesday, plating nine runs in the bottom of the fourth en route to run-ruling St. Henry 17-5 at Veterans Field.
The win moves the Cavaliers to 12-3 on the season and 6-1 in the double-round robin County circuit standings. St. Henry (6-8) goes to 4-1 in county play with the Mercer County tournament starting July 1 back at Veterans Field. [More]

CELINA - Optional Energy Partners (OEP) of Michigan plans to begin construction of an algae/manure digester at the Celina Renewable Energy Center in November. It should be finished by the first quarter of 2012, a company official said.
Wright State University in Dayton approved a 3.5 percent tuition increase this month, the highest amount allowed at a state university.
The move follows several other universities that also have increased tuition due to expected state funding cuts.
