Scattered snow showers will become more widespread through this afternoon and then likely linger into this evening before tapering off into tonight.
The snow showers will be capable of causing brief periods of reduced visibilities, especially this afternoon. In addition, brisk conditions will prevail with west winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range today.
Light snow accumulations will be possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. While roads will remain mostly wet during the daytime hours, some slick spots may develop toward sunset and beyond as temperatures drop below freezing.
Please be prepared for the changing weather conditions today and the potential for reduced visibilities when driving.

Ronald Stauffer
Ronald "Jan" Stauffer, 66, Murfreesboro, Tenn., died suddenly on Nov. 25, 2011, at his home.
He was born July 1, 1944, in Celina to Roger J. and Beatrice Cochran Stauffer, who are deceased. His early years were spent in New Knoxville.
Surviving are his wife, Linda, Murfreesboro, and brothers, R. Jay (Carol) Stauffer, New Bremen, and R. Jerry (Linda) Stauffer, London, Ohio.
He graduated in 1962 from Shawnee High School, Lima, and in 1966 from Ohio Northern University, Ada. He attended graduate school at Ball State University where he also served as a graduate assistant for basketball. He completed his doctorate at Indiana University in 1981.
He taught and coached basketball at Van Wert High School and then served as varsity basketball coach at Miami Trace High School in 1970. He was an assistant coach under Bobby Knight at Indiana University from 1973-76. In 1976, he became assistant basketball coach at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro.
He became a member of LaVergne High School, LaVergne, Tenn., faculty and administration where he served for more than 22 years. He retired as high school principal in 2004. He was a radio commentator for MTSU basketball for 13 years and worked part-time for the university in Murfreesboro after retirement.
He attended Belle Aire Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.
Service was held Nov. 28, 2011, at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, Murfreesboro. Burial followed at Hopper Cemetery near Murfreesboro.
