Virginia M. Painter
Virginia M. Painter, 95, Willshire, died at 5:45 a.m. Feb. 18, 2012, at Colonial Nursing Center, Rockford.
She was born April 8, 1916, in Willshire to Audi F. and Flodeltha Straubinger Passwater. On Aug. 10, 1937, she married Cleo Roy Painter, who died March 21, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Rex C. Painter, Willshire; two sisters-in-law, Janet Painter Speelman, Scott, and Janette Crites Painter, Willshire; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.
She had been employed by Rockford Canning Plant, GE of Decatur and the Willshire-Parkway public schools, where she retired as a secretary.
She was active in Order of Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron of the Willshire chapter. She joined the Van Wert chapter after the two chapters merged. She was a member of Willshire First United Methodist Church, past president of Pythian Sisters, and a member of the Wilshire Garden Club.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Revs. Bud Larrimore and John Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Willshire Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral home. The Van Wert Chapter of the Eastern Star will hold a service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
