Sue Thompson
Sue Thompson, 73, St. Marys, died at 12:10 a.m. Feb. 28, 2012, at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Indianapolis, Ind.to Clarence and Thelma Kent Thompson.
Surviving are a sister, Sharon Hoenie, Mendon; a niece, Shyla (Dan) Houser, Mendon; and two great-nephews, Camdan and Ashdan Houser.
Deceased is a great-nephew, Jordan Houser.
A 1968 graduate of Ohio Northern University, she earned a master's degree in 1973 from Wright State University. She was a junior high language arts teacher at McBroom Junior High School, St. Marys.
She also served as an adjunct professor at Wright State University-Lake Campus. She also taught at Camp Inquire at Lake Campus. She was an Ohio Reads volunteer and a member of Let's Talk About It book discussion group at St. Marys Community Public Library. She was past president of the St. Marys Shakespeare Club.
She served as a state delegate to the White House Conference on Disabilities, served on the Ohio Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities, was a member of Ohio Employment Bureau, Women's Division, and helped establish the Ohio Women's' Hall of Fame. She was a member of St. Marys Education Association where she had served in many offices, including president.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, West Chapel, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, the Rev. Bill Drummond officiating.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Sue Thompson Memorial Fund.
