Francis Groff
Francis J. Groff, 93, died April 27, 2012, in Kettering.
He was born June 13, 1918, in North Star to Emmanuel and Ella Mangen Groff. He married Marie Knapke, who is deceased.
Surviving are two children, Theresa Groff, Kettering, and Tim (Cheryl) Groff, Englewood; siblings, Dorothy Hemmelgarn, St. Henry, Marcy (Bob) Hare, Troy, Virginia (Bill) May, West Carrolton, and Helen (Jim) Russ, Somerset, N.J.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was employed by the National Cash Register, Dayton, for 30 years. After retirement, he worked at Elks Golf Course, Celina. In the 1950s, he and his wife owned and operated Groff's Groceries, North Star.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star, and the North Star American Legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry, and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
