John Price
John Andrew Price, 93, Mendon, died at 1:09 p.m. July 18, 2012, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Van Wert County to Joseph Wesley and Goldie Mary Harp Price. On Oct. 5, 1945, he married Evelyn L. Fike, who survives in Mendon.
Also surviving are a son, John S. Price of Mendon, and a brother, David E. (Helen Maxine) Price, Ohio City.
Two sisters, Catherine Price and Lois I. Bassett, are deceased.
He retired as a sergeant in the security office at the Lima Army Tank Depot. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 178, both of Van Wert, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville. A 1936 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and a World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1943.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, Pastor Philip E. Zielinski officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City, with military rites conducted by the VFW.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. today at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
