Car in lake
Submitted Photo

A car rests in Grand Lake after its driver failed to negotiate a curve along Windy Point Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told representatives of the Ohio Division of Parks that several people scrambled out of the water and ran from the scene. Officials located a suspect at the scene who had injuries consistent with a traffic accident but he denied being the driver of the car. He was taken by ambulance to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater and released. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Manager Brian Miller confirmed the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and made approximately 30 feet of skid marks before hitting the rocky shoreline. The investigation is continuing.
